Product Overview
The Cooler Master MasterFrame 700 is a highly versatile open-air frame designed to function as either a showcase PC chassis or a flexible test bench. Its unique 3-part design, featuring two side wings and a motherboard tray, allows for extensive customization and hardware compatibility. Premium variable friction hinges enable smooth repositioning of the side wings, providing adaptability for various configurations, including custom water-cooling loops and oversized components.
Setup and Assembly
The MasterFrame 700 arrives in a surprisingly heavy, yet thin, package. Assembly is often described as an "adult Lego" experience due to its modular nature. While the process is generally straightforward once understood, the included manual may be confusing as it attempts to combine case assembly with component installation instructions.
1. Unboxing
Carefully unpack all components from the box. Note the weight of the package, which is due to the robust steel construction. Ensure all parts listed in the manual are present before proceeding.
2. Motherboard Installation
The MasterFrame 700 supports a wide range of motherboard sizes, from Mini-ITX up to SSI-EEB. The motherboard tray provides designated mounting points for each form factor. Be aware that installing larger motherboards (beyond standard ATX) may utilize space typically reserved for water cooling rails.

3. CPU Cooler Installation
In Test Bench Mode, there are no height restrictions for CPU coolers. However, when using the Open-Air Frame Mode with the panoramic tempered glass panel installed, CPU cooler height is limited to 158mm. Consider this limitation when selecting your cooling solution.
4. GPU Installation
The case supports VGA cards up to 450mm in length. For modern, thicker GPUs, installing the tempered glass panel may present clearance issues. While 90-degree power adapters can help, users should be prepared for potential space constraints or consider operating without the glass panel. The MasterFrame 700 does not include a vertical GPU mounting bracket by default.
5. PSU Installation
The MasterFrame 700 offers three different positions for ATX power supply units. Two positions are located behind the motherboard tray, allowing for dual PSU systems. A third position allows mounting the PSU directly onto the backside of one of the side wings, offering flexibility for various build types.
6. Storage Installation
The case provides ample storage options, supporting up to four 3.5" hard drives or seven 2.5" SSDs. Drive mounting rails are located on the back panel and a dedicated bracket for 2.5" drives can be mounted on the side of the main plate.
7. Fan and Radiator Installation
The side wings are designed to accommodate cooling solutions. Each wing can mount up to three 120mm fans or two 140mm fans. Radiator support includes up to 360mm or 280mm radiators on each side wing. Additionally, 90-degree adapters are provided to mount up to a 420mm radiator on top of the main plate in Test Bench Mode.

8. I/O Panel
The front I/O panel includes one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, a combined audio in/out jack, and the Cooler Master Master Button. This panel can be mounted on the back side of the main plate, facing away from the case, either at the top or bottom depending on user preference.

Operating Modes
1. Open-Air Frame Mode
In this mode, the MasterFrame 700 stands vertically, allowing components to be displayed behind its panoramic tempered glass screen. This configuration provides unrestricted access to fresh air for all components, optimizing cooling performance.

2. Test Bench Mode
The modular design allows the MasterFrame 700 to lay down horizontally, transforming into a premium test bench. The side wings can fold down towards the CPU socket and GPU areas, localizing airflow to components, which is particularly useful for overclocking or frequent component swapping.

Maintenance
Due to its open-air design, the MasterFrame 700 is more susceptible to dust accumulation compared to enclosed cases. Regular cleaning is recommended to maintain optimal performance and aesthetics.
- Use compressed air to remove dust from components and perforated panels.
- Wipe down surfaces with a soft, dry cloth.
- For the tempered glass panel, use a microfiber cloth and a mild glass cleaner.
Troubleshooting
1. Standoff Screws Not Fitting
Some users have reported issues with standoff screws not fitting properly into the motherboard tray holes, potentially damaging the paint or preventing secure installation. Ensure you are using the correct screws for the designated motherboard form factor. If issues persist, contact Cooler Master support.
2. GPU Clearance with Tempered Glass
Large, modern GPUs may have clearance issues with the tempered glass panel when installed in Open-Air Frame Mode. Consider using a 90-degree power adapter for the GPU or operating the case without the glass panel to ensure proper fit and airflow.
3. CPU Cooler Backplate Access
The cutout for CPU cooler backplate access on the motherboard tray may be partially obstructed for some Intel motherboard mounting holes. This can complicate the installation or removal of certain CPU coolers. If frequent cooler changes are anticipated, this design aspect should be noted.
4. Cable Management
As an open-frame design, cables will be visible. While cable ties and routing options are provided, achieving a completely hidden cable setup may be challenging. Plan your cable routing carefully for aesthetic appeal.
5. Wall Mounting Weight Limit
The MasterFrame 700 features a 100mm x 100mm VESA mount for wall installation. However, it is highly recommended to only wall mount full systems below 14kg in total. The case itself has a net weight of 12.15kg, leaving minimal allowance for components. Exceeding this limit may compromise the integrity of the mount.
