2. Safety Instructions
Always observe basic safety precautions when using electrical tools to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury.
2.1 General Safety
- Read all instructions before using the tool.
- Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2.2 Electrical Safety
- Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
- Use only the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
- Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
2.3 Personal Safety
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, and sturdy footwear.
- Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
- Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before inserting battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool.
- Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
- Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
- Always keep hands away from the blades when the tool is powered on.

5.2 Installing the Battery
- Ensure the pruning shears are switched off.
- Align the battery with the battery slot at the bottom of the shears handle.
- Slide the battery into the slot until it clicks securely into place.
- To remove the battery, press the battery removal button and slide the battery out.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Powering On/Off
- To Power On: After installing the battery, press and hold the power switch (usually located near the handle) for a few seconds until the blades open and the LED display illuminates. The blades will typically open to their maximum capacity.
- To Power Off: Press and hold the power switch again until the blades close and the LED display turns off. Always power off the tool when not in use or before performing any maintenance.
6.2 Pruning Operation
- Ensure you are wearing appropriate safety gear, including gloves and eye protection.
- Position the branch to be cut between the open blades. Ensure the branch is within the maximum cutting diameter of 1 inch (25mm).
- Press the trigger firmly to close the blades and make the cut. The blades will retract automatically after the cut is complete.
- The LED display will show the remaining battery charge and the number of cuts made, allowing you to monitor your work progress and battery life.
- For thicker branches, ensure the branch is seated deeply into the blades for a clean and efficient cut. Avoid forcing the tool.
6.3 Cutting Tips
- Make clean, precise cuts to promote healthy plant growth.
- Avoid cutting branches that exceed the maximum diameter to prevent damage to the tool and ensure safety.
- If the tool struggles with a branch, try rotating the pruner around the branch and cutting from different angles, or consider using a larger tool for very hard or thick wood.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your pruning shears.
7.1 Cleaning the Blades
- After each use, especially after cutting resinous wood, clean the blades.
- Ensure the tool is powered off and the battery is removed before cleaning.
- Use a damp cloth to wipe off sap, dirt, and debris from the blades. For stubborn residue, a specialized blade cleaner or rubbing alcohol can be used.
- Dry the blades thoroughly after cleaning to prevent rust.
7.2 Lubrication
- Apply a few drops of the provided lubricating oil (or a suitable machine oil) to the pivot point and along the cutting edge of the blades periodically.
- This helps maintain smooth operation and prevents corrosion.
7.3 Battery Care and Storage
- Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- For long-term storage, charge batteries to about 50% capacity. Avoid storing fully charged or completely depleted batteries for extended periods.
- If storing for more than a month, recharge the batteries every 3-6 months to maintain their health.
7.4 General Storage
- Store the pruning shears in its original carrying case in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children.
- Ensure the blades are closed and the tool is powered off before storage.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your pruning shears, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Shears do not power on. | Battery not charged or not properly installed. | Ensure battery is fully charged and securely inserted. Press and hold the power switch for a few seconds to activate. |
| Blades do not cut effectively or get stuck. | Blades are dull, dirty, or trying to cut material too thick. | Clean and lubricate blades. Ensure material is within 1 inch (25mm) diameter. If blades are dull, consider replacement (contact manufacturer for spare parts). |
| Battery life is shorter than expected. | Battery not fully charged, old battery, or heavy usage. | Ensure battery is fully charged before use. If battery is old, its capacity may naturally decrease over time. Consider purchasing new batteries if performance significantly degrades. |
| Tool stops unexpectedly during operation. | Overload protection activated, or battery depleted. | Check battery charge. If cutting very hard material, the tool may have activated overload protection. Allow it to cool down, then try again on appropriate material. |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact KOMOK customer support for further assistance.
