4.2 Software Installation (for Customization)

To customize the functions of the foot pedal, you need to download and install the ElfKey software (also referred to as FootSwitch software) from the official PCsensor website.

  1. Visit the PCsensor support page: www.pcsensor.com/support
  2. Locate and download the appropriate ElfKey (or FootSwitch) software version for your operating system (Windows or Mac).
  3. Install the software by following the on-screen instructions.
  4. Launch the ElfKey software. The software should automatically detect your connected PCsensor USB Foot Pedal.

Note: The software is primarily for configuration. Once the keys are programmed, the settings are stored on the foot pedal's internal chip, and the software is no longer needed for the programmed functions to work on other compatible devices.

5. Customization Software (ElfKey)

The ElfKey software provides a user interface to assign various functions to each of the three pedals. Follow these steps to customize your foot pedal:

  1. Open the ElfKey software. Ensure your foot pedal is connected.
  2. In the software interface, you will see representations of the three pedals (Key1, Key2, Key3).
  3. Click on the desired pedal (e.g., Key1) to select it for programming.
  4. Choose the desired function type from the tabs (Keyboard, String, Mouse, Media, Macro).
  5. For Keyboard functions: Select "Single key" or "Multi-key combination". For multi-key, enter the key sequence (e.g., CTRL+C).
  6. For String functions: Type the desired text string (up to 38 characters).
  7. For Mouse functions: Select the specific mouse action (e.g., Left Click, Scroll Up).
  8. For Media functions: Choose from options like Play/Pause, Volume Up/Down, Next/Previous Track.
  9. For Macro functions: Configure a sequence of keyboard and mouse actions with optional delays.
  10. After selecting the function, click the "Save" button to apply the setting to the pedal.
  11. Repeat for other pedals as needed.

The software also allows you to choose between "Single trigger" (output once per press) or "Continuous trigger" (output continuously while held down) for certain functions.

6. Operating Instructions

Once your PCsensor USB Foot Pedal has been configured using the ElfKey software, it is ready for use. The programmed functions are stored directly on the device and will work without the software running in the background on any compatible system.

  1. Ensure the foot pedal is connected to your computer via USB.
  2. Place the foot pedal on a stable surface where it can be comfortably accessed with your feet. The anti-slip rubbers on the base help prevent movement.
  3. Press the desired pedal to activate its assigned function. For example, if you assigned "Shift+Z" to a pedal, pressing it will execute that key combination.
  4. For continuous actions (if configured), hold the pedal down. Release to stop the continuous action.
