The MB Quart RW-108A is designed for compact spaces. Common mounting locations include:

Ensure the chosen location allows for adequate air circulation around the unit to prevent overheating. Secure the subwoofer firmly using the provided mounting hardware to prevent movement during vehicle operation.

Wiring Connections

  1. Ground Connection (GND): Connect the ground terminal to a clean, unpainted metal surface of the vehicle chassis. Ensure a solid, low-resistance connection.
  2. Remote Turn-On (REM): Connect this terminal to the remote output wire from your head unit. This wire signals the subwoofer to turn on and off with your vehicle's audio system. If your head unit does not have a remote output, you can use the "Auto Turn On" feature (see Product Overview).
  3. Power Connection (+12V): Connect this terminal directly to the positive terminal of your vehicle's battery. An in-line fuse (not supplied, but typically included in wiring kits) must be installed within 18 inches (45 cm) of the battery.
  4. Audio Signal Input:
    • Low-Level Input (RCA): If your head unit has RCA pre-outs, connect them to the subwoofer's RCA inputs.
    • High-Level Input (Speaker Level): If your head unit does not have RCA outputs, connect the speaker wires from your head unit to the subwoofer's high-level input terminals.
  5. Wired Bass Remote: Plug the wired remote control into its dedicated port on the subwoofer's rear panel. Route the cable to a convenient location for the driver.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, follow these steps to configure and operate your subwoofer:

  1. Initial Power On: Reconnect the vehicle's battery. Turn on your head unit. The Power indicator on the subwoofer should illuminate.
  2. Set Input Level (Gain):
    • Turn the Input Level knob on the subwoofer to its minimum setting.
    • Play a familiar piece of music with strong bass content through your head unit at about 75% of its maximum volume.
    • Slowly increase the Input Level knob on the subwoofer until you hear distortion, then back it off slightly until the sound is clean.
  3. Adjust Low Pass Filter (LPF): Set the LPF knob to blend the subwoofer's output seamlessly with your main speakers. A common starting point is between 80Hz and 120Hz. Experiment to find the best sound for your vehicle and music.
  4. Adjust Bass Boost: Use the Bass Boost knob sparingly. Excessive bass boost can lead to distortion and potential damage. Adjust to your preference for added low-end impact.
  5. Set Phase: Toggle the Phase switch (0° or 180°) while listening to music. Choose the setting that provides the most impactful and cohesive bass response. This helps align the subwoofer's sound waves with your main speakers.
  6. Using the Wired Bass Remote: The remote control allows you to adjust the overall bass level on the fly without needing to access the subwoofer unit directly. Turn the knob to increase or decrease the bass output.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your subwoofer.
