Operating Instructions
Live View
After initial setup, the DVR will display the live view from all connected cameras. Use the USB mouse to navigate the on-screen menu. Right-click to access the main menu options.
Smart Motion Detection
The system features Smart Motion Detection, which differentiates between human and vehicle motion, reducing false alerts caused by environmental factors like moving branches or animals. Configure detection zones and sensitivity settings via the DVR's menu: Main Menu > Alarm > Motion Detection.
Color Night Vision (CNV)
Lorex cameras are equipped with Color Night Vision, providing full-color video in low-light conditions. In complete darkness, the cameras automatically switch to infrared (IR) night vision for clear black and white video up to 135 feet.
Active Deterrence
Each camera includes a motion-activated LED warning light and a remote-triggered siren. These features can be configured to activate automatically upon detection or manually via the Lorex Home app (if connected to network) to deter intruders. Access settings via: Main Menu > Alarm > Active Deterrence.
Smart Home Compatibility
This Lorex system is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Once connected to your network, you can use voice commands to view live feeds on compatible smart displays. Refer to the Lorex Home app for detailed integration instructions.
Recording and Playback
The 2TB hard drive allows for extensive video recording. Recordings can be continuous, scheduled, or triggered by motion detection. To review recorded footage, navigate to: Main Menu > Playback. Select the date and time to view events.
Maintenance
- Camera Lens Cleaning: Periodically clean camera lenses with a soft, damp cloth to ensure clear image quality. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect all cables for wear, damage, or loose connections, especially for outdoor installations.
- Software Updates: Check the Lorex website or Lorex Home app for firmware updates for your DVR to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Hard Drive Management: The DVR automatically overwrites the oldest footage when the hard drive is full. If you need to preserve specific recordings, back them up to a USB drive (Main Menu > Backup).
