5. Setup and Installation
Proper wiring is critical for the correct function and safety of the BMS and battery pack. Please follow these instructions carefully.

Wiring Sequence for Common Port BMS:
- Connect the B- wire: The thick black wire (B-) from the BMS connects to the total negative electrode of the battery pack.
- Connect the P- wire: The thick blue wire (P-) from the BMS connects to the negative terminal of the load (motor, inverter) and the negative terminal of the charger.
- Connect the Balance Leads (Sampling Cable):
- Ensure the BMS is disconnected from the battery pack before connecting the balance leads.
- Connect the balance leads to the battery cells starting from B0 (total negative) up to B8 (total positive).
- Measure the voltage between each two adjacent metal terminals on the back of the balance lead plug. For a LiFePO4 battery, the voltage should be between 3.0V and 4.15V. For a ternary lithium battery, it should be 2.5V to 3.6V. For a LTO battery, it should be between 1.8V and 2.8V. Verify these voltages before proceeding.
- Once all individual cell voltages are verified, insert the balance lead plug into the BMS.
- Connect the B+ wire: The total positive electrode of the battery pack connects to the positive terminal of the load and charger.
After Wiring is Completed:
Measure the voltage of battery B+, B- (total negative of battery pack), and P- (output negative of BMS). The voltage between B+ and B- should be equal to the voltage between B+ and P-. If these voltages are equal, the BMS is working normally. If not, re-check the wiring sequence.
The positive electrodes of the charging and discharging end are all directly connected to the total positive pole B+ of the battery. The wiring method of the common port BMS is that the charging and discharging negative poles are connected to the P- point of the BMS. The wiring method of the branch BMS is the negative pole of charging connected to C-, the negative electrode of discharge is connected to P-.
6. Operation
Once correctly installed, the DALY BMS operates automatically to protect your battery pack. It continuously monitors cell voltages, currents, and temperatures to prevent conditions that could damage the battery.
- Charging: Connect your charger to the battery pack (via the BMS P- terminal for common port). The BMS will manage overcharge protection and cell balancing.
- Discharging: Connect your load to the battery pack (via the BMS P- terminal for common port). The BMS will manage overcurrent and overdischarge protection.
- Balancing: The BMS includes a passive balancing function to equalize cell voltages during charging, extending battery life.
7. Maintenance
The DALY BMS is designed for minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks can ensure optimal performance:
- Visual Inspection: Periodically inspect the BMS and all wiring for any signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections.
- Cleanliness: Keep the BMS free from dust and debris. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning.
- Temperature: Ensure the BMS operates within its specified temperature range. Adequate ventilation is important.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your BMS or battery pack, consider the following:
- No Output Power: Check all wiring connections, especially B-, P-, and the balance leads. Verify battery voltage. The BMS may have triggered a protection (e.g., overdischarge, short circuit). Disconnect the load and attempt to charge to reset.
- Charging Not Working: Check charger functionality and connections. Verify individual cell voltages. The BMS may have triggered overcharge protection if a cell voltage is too high.
- Unbalanced Cells: Ensure the balance leads are correctly connected and making good contact. Allow sufficient time for the BMS to balance cells during charging.
- Overheating: Check for excessive current draw or poor ventilation around the BMS and battery pack.
For persistent issues, refer to the detailed wiring instructions or contact customer support.
9. Applications
The DALY BMS is suitable for a wide range of applications requiring reliable LiFePO4 battery management, including:
- Two-wheelers (e.g., electric scooters)
- AGV Forklifts
- Photovoltaic Energy Storage Systems
- RV Energy Storage
- Home Energy Storage Systems
