Operating Instructions
Taking a Measurement
- Point the thermometer at the target object.
- Pull and hold the trigger for 2-3 seconds to get a stable and accurate reading. The laser will indicate the measurement spot.
- The temperature will be displayed on the LCD screen. The "HOLD" icon will appear, indicating the reading is held.
- Release the trigger to stop measuring. The device will automatically turn off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery.

Distance to Spot Ratio (D:S)
The INK-IFT01 has a Distance to Spot Ratio of 12:1. This means that at a distance of 12 units, the measurement spot diameter will be 1 unit. For example, if you are 36 cm away from the target, the measurement spot will be 3 cm in diameter. To achieve the most accurate readings, ensure the target object completely fills the measurement spot. The best distance for accurate measurement is approximately 14.17 inches (36 cm).

Image Description: A diagram illustrating the 12:1 Distance to Spot Ratio (D:S) of the thermometer. It shows how the measurement spot size (S) changes with distance (D), indicating that at 36cm distance, the spot size is 3.0cm, and at a closer distance, the spot size is 2.5cm. The diagram emphasizes accurately measuring targets at greater distances.
Adjustable Emissivity
Emissivity is a measure of an object's ability to emit infrared energy. Different materials have different emissivity values. The INK-IFT01 allows you to adjust the emissivity from 0.1 to 1.0 to improve measurement accuracy for various surfaces. Refer to the emissivity table in the full user manual (if available) for common materials.
- Press the "MODE" button to cycle through settings until "EMS" appears.
- Use the "Up" and "Down" buttons (Laser/Up and °C/°F/Down) to adjust the emissivity value.
- Common emissivity values: Water (0.93), Oil (0.94), Ice (0.98), Wood (0.94), Car Engine (0.8), Frozen Food (0.98).
Switching Temperature Units (°C/°F)
To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F), press the "°C/°F/Down" button during operation.
Applications
The Inkbird INK-IFT01 Infrared Thermometer is suitable for a wide range of non-contact surface temperature measurements, including but not limited to:
- Cooking and Barbecue: Checking grill grates, oven temperatures, and food surfaces.
- Automotive: Measuring engine components, tires, and cooling systems.
- Industrial Use: Monitoring machinery, electrical products, and chemical processes.
