Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

1. Read all instructions.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
3. To protect against fire, electric shock, and personal injury, do not immerse cord, plugs, or coffee maker in water or other liquid.
4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
5. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.

Setup and First Use

Before using your Gevi 4-Cup Coffee Maker for the first time, it is important to clean all removable parts and run a brewing cycle with only water.

Initial Cleaning:

1. Unpack the coffee maker and remove all packaging materials.
2. Wash the glass carafe, reusable filter, and brew basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
3. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.

First Brew Cycle (Water Only):

1. Fill the carafe with clean water up to the 4-cup mark.
2. Pour the water into the water tank, ensuring it does not exceed the MAX fill line.
3. Place the empty reusable filter into the brew basket, and then place the brew basket into its designated slot.
4. Close the top cover securely.
5. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
6. Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet.
7. Press the ON/OFF button. The indicator light will illuminate, and the brewing cycle will begin.
8. Allow the full cycle to complete. Once finished, discard the hot water from the carafe.
9. Unplug the appliance and let it cool down.

Your coffee maker is now ready for brewing coffee.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to brew a perfect cup of coffee with your Gevi 4-Cup Coffee Maker:

1. Prepare the Water: Fill the glass carafe with the desired amount of fresh, cold water. The carafe has markings for 2, 3, and 4 cups. Pour the water into the water tank at the back of the coffee maker. Ensure the water level does not exceed the maximum fill line indicated on the water tank.
2. Add Coffee Grounds: Open the top cover of the coffee maker. Swing out the brew basket and place the reusable filter inside. Add your preferred amount of coffee grounds into the filter. A general guideline is one tablespoon of coffee grounds per cup of water, but adjust to your taste.
3. Close and Position: Close the brew basket and the top cover securely. Place the empty glass carafe onto the warming plate, ensuring it is properly seated to activate the drip-stop mechanism.
4. Start Brewing: Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet. Press the ON/OFF button located on the front of the unit. The blue indicator light will illuminate, signaling that the brewing process has started.
5. Enjoy Your Coffee: The coffee maker will brew your coffee in approximately 4-6 minutes. Once the brewing cycle is complete, the coffee maker will automatically switch to the keep-warm function, maintaining the coffee temperature for up to 2 hours before automatically shutting off.

Tip: If you wish to stop brewing at any time, simply press the ON/OFF button again.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your Gevi Coffee Maker.

Daily Cleaning:

1. Always unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
2. Remove the reusable filter and discard any used coffee grounds.
3. Wash the glass carafe, reusable filter, and brew basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are also dishwasher safe for convenience.
4. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker, including the warming plate, with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal):

Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting its performance. Descale your coffee maker every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.

1. Fill the water tank with a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:2 ratio).
2. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
3. Press the ON/OFF button to start a brewing cycle.
4. After about half of the mixture has brewed through, turn off the coffee maker and let it soak for at least 15 minutes.
5. Turn the coffee maker back on and allow the remaining mixture to brew through.
6. Discard the vinegar solution from the carafe.
7. Run 2-3 cycles with fresh, clean water to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste or odor.
