4. Setup
4.1 Initial Charging
Before first use, fully charge your Baton3 flashlight. Connect the magnetic charging cable (MCC) to a USB power source and attach the magnetic end to the tail cap of the flashlight. The indicator light on the MCC will show red during charging and turn green when fully charged. A full charge typically takes approximately 1 hour.
4.2 Battery Installation
The Baton3 comes with a pre-installed rechargeable battery. If you need to access or replace the battery, unscrew the tail cap counter-clockwise. Ensure the positive (+) end of the battery faces towards the head of the flashlight when reinserting. Screw the tail cap back on clockwise until secure.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Basic Operation
- Turn ON/OFF: Single click the side switch to turn the flashlight ON or OFF.
- Change Brightness Level: When the flashlight is ON, press and hold the side switch to cycle through Low, Medium, and High modes. Release the switch to select the desired brightness.
- Moonlight Mode: When the flashlight is OFF, press and hold the side switch for approximately one second to activate Moonlight mode.
- Turbo Mode: Quickly double-click the side switch to activate Turbo mode. Double-click again to return to the previous brightness level.
- Strobe Mode: Quickly triple-click the side switch to activate Strobe mode. Single click to exit.
- Lockout/Unlock: When the flashlight is OFF, press and hold the side switch for approximately two seconds until the Moonlight mode briefly turns on and then off. The flashlight is now in lockout mode. To unlock, press and hold the side switch for approximately one second until the Moonlight mode turns on.
5.2 Battery Level Indicator
The indicator light on the side switch displays the battery level:
- Green: Battery level is good (above 60%).
- Yellow: Battery level is medium (20%-60%).
- Red: Battery level is low (below 20%).
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the threads and O-rings with a clean cloth. Apply a thin layer of silicone grease to the O-rings to maintain their waterproof seal.
- Battery Care: To maintain optimal battery performance, recharge the battery regularly, especially if the flashlight will not be used for an extended period. Avoid fully depleting the battery.
- Water Resistance: The Baton3 has an IPX8 waterproof rating, meaning it is protected against continuous immersion in water up to 2 meters. Ensure the tail cap is fully tightened before exposing the flashlight to water.
- Avoid Disassembly: Do not disassemble the head of the flashlight as this may damage the light and void the warranty.
7. Troubleshooting
If your OLIGHT Baton3 is not functioning correctly, please refer to the following common issues and solutions:
- Flashlight not turning on:
- Check if the battery is fully charged.
- Ensure the battery is inserted correctly with the positive (+) end facing the head.
- Confirm the tail cap is fully tightened.
- Check if the flashlight is in lockout mode (see Operating Instructions).
- Light output is dim or flickering:
- Recharge the battery.
- Clean the battery contacts and threads with an alcohol swab.
- Magnetic charging not working:
- Ensure the magnetic charging cable is securely connected to both the USB power source and the flashlight's tail cap.
- Clean the magnetic contacts on both the cable and the flashlight.
