5. Setup and Installation
5.1 Security Considerations
For optimal security, the VIS-MINI-CNTRL mini controller should be installed inside a restricted, secure area. All user credentials are stored on the mini controller, not on the external keypad. This prevents unauthorized access even if the external keypad is tampered with or removed.

5.2 Wiring the System
The VIS-3002 keypad connects to the VIS-MINI-CNTRL mini controller via a Wiegand 26 interface. The mini controller then manages the locking device (e.g., magnetic lock, electric strike) and other peripherals like an exit button or doorbell.
- Connect the keypad's Wiegand output (D0, D1) to the mini controller's Wiegand input.
- Connect the 12V DC power supply to the mini controller.
- Wire the locking device to the NO (Normally Open) or NC (Normally Closed) terminals on the mini controller, as required by your lock type. Ensure the Diode IN4004 is installed across the lock terminals for relay protection.
- Connect an exit button to the 'OPEN' terminal and GND on the mini controller.
- Connect an external doorbell to the appropriate terminals if desired.

6. Operation
6.1 Adding Users
Use the Master Add Card to enroll new proximity cards or key fobs. Follow the specific programming instructions provided with your mini controller for adding user PINs.
6.2 Gaining Access
Users can gain access using one of the following methods:
- PIN Code: Enter your assigned PIN code on the keypad.
- Proximity Card/Key Fob: Present your registered card or key fob to the keypad reader.
- Card + PIN: For enhanced security, some configurations may require both a card/key fob and a PIN code.
The keypad features a backlight for easy visibility and operation at night.
6.3 Exiting
To exit, press the connected exit button or use the remote control if configured.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the keypad surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Connection Check: Periodically inspect all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
- Firmware Updates: Check the Visionis website for any available firmware updates for your system.
8. Troubleshooting
- No Power: Ensure the 12V 2Amp power supply is correctly connected and receiving power. Check all wiring.
- Keypad Unresponsive: Verify power supply. If the keypad is completely unresponsive, check for loose connections or damage.
- Access Denied: Ensure the card/key fob is correctly enrolled. Verify the PIN code is correct. Check if the user capacity has been reached.
- Anti-Tamper Alarm: If the alarm sounds, it indicates the keypad has been illegally removed or tampered with. Re-secure the keypad and reset the system if necessary.
- Door Not Unlocking: Check the wiring to the locking device and ensure it is receiving power from the mini controller. Verify the lock type (NO/NC) matches the controller's configuration.
