4.2 Filling the Water Tank

  1. Ensure the iron is unplugged from the power outlet.
  2. Remove the water tank from the base unit.
  3. Fill the tank with tap water up to the maximum fill line. Distilled or demineralized water is recommended in areas with very hard water to prolong the appliance's life. Do not use scented water or additives.
  4. Replace the water tank securely into the base unit.

4.3 Initial Preparation

Before ironing clothes, it is recommended to perform a brief initial steam cycle on an old cloth to remove any manufacturing residues from the soleplate.

  1. Place the iron on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  2. Plug the power cord into an earthed electrical outlet.
  3. Press the power button. The indicator light will flash while heating up.
  4. Wait approximately 2 minutes for the iron to reach operating temperature. The indicator light will stop flashing when ready.
  5. Press the steam trigger several times to prime the steam system.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Setting Temperature and Steam

Adjust the temperature dial on the iron according to the fabric type. Refer to the garment's care label. The steam output will automatically adjust based on the selected temperature.

  • Low Temperature: Synthetics, Silk
  • Medium Temperature: Wool
  • High Temperature: Cotton, Linen

5.2 Ironing with Steam

Once the iron is ready (indicator light solid), press and hold the steam trigger under the handle to release continuous steam. Release the trigger to stop steam.

5.3 Steam Boost Function

For stubborn creases, press the steam trigger twice quickly to activate the powerful steam boost (280g/min). This provides an extra burst of steam to penetrate thick fabrics.

5.4 Vertical Steaming

The steam generator iron can be used for vertical steaming to refresh garments, curtains, or upholstery. Hold the iron vertically a few centimeters away from the fabric and press the steam trigger.

6.1 Descaling (Anti-Calc System)

Your Tefal Express Essential SV6115 features built-in anti-scale filter technology that flushes out limescale particles. When the 'Anti-Calc' indicator light illuminates, it's time to perform the descaling procedure.

  3. Unscrew the anti-calc collector cap (refer to product diagram for location).
  4. Empty the collected limescale and rinse the collector under running water.
  5. Screw the anti-calc collector cap back on securely.

6.2 Cleaning the Soleplate

To clean the soleplate, ensure the iron is unplugged and cool. Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metallic scouring pads, as these can damage the soleplate coating.

After use, unplug the iron and allow it to cool completely. Empty any remaining water from the tank. Wrap the power cord neatly around the designated storage area on the base unit. Store the iron in a safe, dry place.
