4. Setup

1. Charge the Battery: Before first use, fully charge the Lithium-Ion battery using the provided charger. Insert the battery into the charger and plug the charger into a suitable power outlet. The charging indicator light will show the charging status.
2. Install the Filter: Open the vacuum unit's lid. Ensure the flat pleated filter is securely seated in its designated position. A properly installed filter is crucial for effective operation and to prevent ash from entering the motor.
3. Insert Battery: Once charged, slide the battery pack into the battery compartment on the vacuum unit until it clicks into place.
4. Attach Suction Hose: Connect the flexible suction hose to the inlet port on the vacuum unit. Ensure it is firmly attached to prevent air leaks.
5. Attach Nozzle: Connect the metal suction nozzle to the free end of the suction hose.

5. Operating Instructions

Always ensure the ash is completely cold before vacuuming. Use the vacuum in a well-ventilated area.

1. Power On: Press the ON/OFF switch located on the top of the vacuum unit to start the appliance. The AD 2 features two power levels; select the appropriate level for the task.
2. Vacuuming Ash:
   • Fireplaces/Wood Stoves: Carefully guide the metal suction nozzle over the cold ash. The robust design of the nozzle is ideal for reaching into corners and crevices.

   • Barbecue Grills: For outdoor use, ensure the grill is completely cooled down. Use the nozzle to remove ash and debris from the grill basin.

3. Power Off: Once cleaning is complete, press the ON/OFF switch to turn off the appliance.
4. Emptying the Container:
   • Disconnect the suction hose.
   • Unlatch the container clips and carefully lift the motor head off the container.
   • Empty the collected ash into a suitable, non-combustible waste receptacle.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Kärcher AD 2.

• Cleaning the Filter: After each use, or when suction power decreases, remove the flat pleated filter and gently tap it to dislodge ash. For thorough cleaning, the filter can be rinsed under cold running water. Ensure the filter is completely dry before re-installing it.
• Cleaning the Container: Wipe the inside of the ash container with a damp cloth. Ensure it is dry before reassembling the vacuum.
• Hose and Nozzle: Check the suction hose and nozzle for blockages. Clear any obstructions carefully.
• Battery Care: Store the battery in a cool, dry place. If storing for extended periods, charge the battery to approximately 50% capacity.
