4. How to Play

Marvel United: X-Men is a cooperative game where players work together to defeat a villain. The game progresses through a series of turns, with players strategically playing cards to perform actions and counter the villain's schemes.

Game Flow:

  1. Hero Turn: On your turn, you will play a card from your hand. Each card offers different actions and superpowers (Move, Attack, Heroic, Wild).
  2. Chain Actions: The actions on your played card combine with the actions of the previous player's last played card, allowing for powerful combos and strategic teamwork.
  3. Villain Turn: After a certain number of hero turns (typically two), the villain takes a turn. The villain's actions are determined by drawing Master Plan cards, which can spread chaos, deploy henchmen, attack heroes, or trigger unique effects at different locations.
  4. Objectives: Heroes must complete specific missions, such as rescuing civilians, clearing threats, or defeating thugs, before they can directly attack the main villain.
  5. Defeat the Villain: Once all necessary missions are accomplished, heroes can focus their attacks on the villain. The game is won when the villain's health is reduced to zero.

5. Game Mechanics

Hero Powers and Teamwork:

Each X-Men hero possesses a unique deck of cards with distinct actions and superpowers. The cooperative nature of the game is highlighted by the ability to chain actions: the last action icon on a player's card is added to the next player's turn, encouraging players to coordinate their moves for maximum effect. This creates a dynamic and engaging experience where strategic planning and communication are key.

Villain Master Plans:

Villains in Marvel United: X-Men are not static. Each villain has a unique Master Plan, detailed on their Villain Dashboard and through their Master Plan cards. These cards dictate the villain's actions, which can include moving across locations, deploying henchmen, activating special abilities, and attacking heroes. The variability in villain behavior ensures that each game presents a fresh challenge.

Locations and Threats:

The game board is composed of various locations, each with its own unique effects and challenges. Villains will spread threats and chaos across these locations, requiring heroes to strategically move and use their abilities to mitigate these dangers. Successfully managing threats and completing location-based objectives is crucial for progressing towards the final confrontation with the villain.
