4. Setup & Installation

4.1 Mounting

The FD62NPN-230V is designed for flush-mounted installation. Its compact size (49 x 51 mm, 20 mm depth) allows it to fit into standard electrical boxes. Ensure adequate ventilation around the device, especially when operating at higher loads, to prevent overheating.

4.2 Wiring Connections

Before making any connections, ensure the main power supply is disconnected. The device features plug-in terminals suitable for conductor cross-sections from 0.2 mm² to 2.5 mm². Strip wires to 8mm before insertion.

Refer to the wiring diagram on the device and below for correct connections:

  • N: Neutral conductor input.
  • L: Live conductor input (230V AC, 50Hz).
  • L with circle: Switched live output to the lamp.
  • E': Input for local conventional 230V push-button switch (optional).
  • N (second): Neutral conductor output (if applicable for local switch).

4.3 Learning-in Wireless Transmitters (EnOcean)

The dimmer actuator can learn up to 32 wireless transmitters (buttons, sensors). The learning process typically involves a specific sequence of pressing the local control button (if connected) or a dedicated learning button on the device (refer to the full Eltako documentation for exact steps, as this device image does not show a dedicated learning button, implying local button or power cycle method). Once in learning mode, activate the desired wireless transmitter to pair it with the dimmer.

The EnOcean ID (EnOID 0424EB6F) and reference number (Ref 000469 42/22) are printed on the device for identification during advanced configuration or troubleshooting.

5. Operation

5.1 Dimming Control

Once installed and paired, the dimmer can be controlled via connected wireless transmitters or a local conventional push-button switch.

  • Short Press: Toggles the light ON/OFF with a soft transition.
  • Long Press: Dims the light up or down. Releasing and pressing again will reverse the dimming direction.

5.2 Memory Function

The dimmer actuator features a memory function. The last set brightness level is automatically saved and restored when the light is turned back on, even after a power outage. In case of a power failure, the device will default to a defined state (usually OFF or a low brightness level) upon restoration, then recall the last setting.

5.3 Load Type Selection (Automatic)

The FD62NPN-230V automatically detects the connected load type (R, L, C, ESL for LED) and adjusts its dimming curve accordingly. For 230V LED lamps, it operates in phase cut-off mode up to 300W or phase cut-in mode up to 100W, depending on the specific LED lamp and ventilation conditions. For incandescent and halogen lamps, it supports up to 300W.
