4.1 Making Espresso

  1. Ensure the machine is preheated. The display will indicate when it's ready.
  2. Insert the desired filter basket (e.g., double espresso) into the portafilter.
  3. Add finely ground espresso coffee to the filter basket using the dosing spoon. For a double espresso, use approximately 14-18 grams.
  4. Evenly distribute and tamp the coffee grounds firmly with the tamper. Wipe any excess coffee from the rim.
  5. Attach the portafilter to the portafilter device on the machine. Turn it firmly to the right until it locks into place.
  6. Place one or two pre-warmed espresso cups on the drip tray under the portafilter spouts.
  7. Press the appropriate espresso button on the touch display (single or double). The machine will start brewing.
  8. Once the desired amount of espresso is brewed, the machine will stop automatically. You can also manually stop it by pressing the button again.
  9. Carefully remove the portafilter by turning it to the left. Dispose of the used coffee grounds.

4.2 Frothing Milk

  1. Fill a stainless steel milk pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy). Do not fill more than one-third, as milk volume will increase.
  2. Ensure the machine is heated and ready for steam production.
  3. Position the swivel steam nozzle into the milk, just below the surface.
  4. Turn the hot water/steam regulator to the steam position. Steam will begin to emerge.
  5. Lower the pitcher slightly to introduce air, creating foam. Then, submerge the nozzle deeper to heat the milk.
  6. Continue frothing and heating until the milk reaches the desired temperature and consistency. The pitcher should be too hot to comfortably hold.
  7. Turn the hot water/steam regulator back to the closed position to stop the steam.
  8. Immediately wipe the steam nozzle with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.

4.3 Using the Cup Warmer

The top surface of the machine acts as a cup warmer. Place your espresso cups on this plate to preheat them. Pre-warmed cups help maintain the temperature of your espresso, enhancing the flavor and aroma.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of your espresso machine.

5.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Portafilter and Filter Basket: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under running water.
  • Steam Nozzle: Immediately after frothing milk, wipe the steam nozzle with a damp cloth. Briefly open the steam valve to purge any milk residue from inside the nozzle.
  • Drip Tray: The drip tray is removable. Empty and rinse it daily or when the indicator shows it's full.
  • Water Tank: Remove and rinse the water tank regularly, especially if the machine is not used daily. Refill with fresh water.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the machine in water.

5.2 Descaling

Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up inside the machine, affecting performance and taste. Descale your machine regularly, depending on water hardness and usage (e.g., every 2-3 months).

  1. Use a commercially available descaling solution suitable for espresso machines. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the descaling agent.
  2. Fill the water tank with the descaling solution mixed with water according to the product instructions.
  3. Place a large container under the portafilter and steam nozzle.
  4. Run the descaling solution through the machine by activating the espresso function and the steam function until the tank is empty.
  5. Rinse the water tank thoroughly and refill it with fresh water.
  6. Repeat the process with fresh water to flush out any remaining descaling solution.
