Setup
Follow these steps to assemble and prepare your pressure washer for first use.
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging.
- Attach Wheels and Handle (if not pre-assembled): Secure the wheels and the upright handle to the main unit according to the diagrams in the quick start guide (if applicable).
- Connect Water Supply:
- Connect a garden hose (minimum 1/2 inch diameter) to the water inlet on the pressure washer. Ensure the water supply is clean and free of debris.
- Turn on the water supply fully to allow water to flow through the pump and expel any air.
- Connect High-Pressure Hose: Attach one end of the high-pressure hose to the outlet on the pressure washer unit and the other end to the spray handle (gun). Ensure connections are hand-tight and secure.
- Attach Nozzle: Select the desired nozzle (e.g., PowerControl or Gentle) and attach it to the end of the spray handle. For foam application, attach the foam sprayer bottle.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a suitable grounded electrical outlet. Note: This model may come with an EU plug. If you are in a region with different plug standards (e.g., UK), a suitable adapter (EU to UK) will be required.
Operating Instructions
Before starting, ensure the water supply is fully open and the power cord is securely plugged in.
- Start the Unit: Turn the power switch on. The motor will start briefly and then stop, indicating the pump is primed.
- Engage Trigger: Squeeze the trigger on the spray handle to begin water flow and pressure washing. The motor will run continuously while the trigger is engaged.
- Adjust PowerControl: The Nilfisk Core 140-8 features in-hand PowerControl. Rotate the nozzle or adjust the setting on the spray handle (if applicable to your specific model variant) to select the desired pressure level for your cleaning task. The 'ROUGH' nozzle is for intensive cleaning, while the 'GENTLE' nozzle is for delicate surfaces.
- Apply Detergent (Optional): If using the foam sprayer, fill it with appropriate pressure washer detergent. Attach it to the spray handle and apply detergent to the surface. Allow the detergent to soak for a few minutes before rinsing.
- Rinsing: After applying detergent, switch back to a high-pressure nozzle and rinse the surface thoroughly, working from top to bottom.
- Shut Down:
- Release the trigger.
- Turn off the power switch on the unit.
- Turn off the water supply.
- Squeeze the trigger to release any remaining pressure in the system.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your pressure washer.
- Clean Nozzles: Use the provided nozzle cleaning tool to clear any blockages from the nozzle tips.
- Check Water Filter: Periodically inspect and clean the water inlet filter to prevent debris from entering the pump.
- Hose and Cord Inspection: Regularly check the high-pressure hose and power cord for any signs of damage, kinks, or wear. Replace damaged components immediately.
- Winter Storage: If storing the unit in an area where temperatures may drop below freezing, drain all water from the pump, hose, and accessories to prevent damage from freezing. Consider using a pump protector solution.
- General Cleaning: Wipe down the exterior of the unit with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
