1. Introduction

The Grace Digital Link Internet Radio Tuner (Model GDI-WHAL01) is designed to integrate modern streaming capabilities with your existing stereo or home audio system. This device allows you to access a vast array of internet radio stations, popular music services, and podcasts, enhancing your listening experience without replacing your traditional audio equipment. It features Chromecast Built-in, Bluetooth 5.0, and various connectivity options for seamless integration.

2. What's in the Box

Upon unpacking your Grace Digital Link, please ensure all items listed below are present:

3. Setup

3.1 Connecting to Power

Connect the provided 12V 1A power adapter to the DC IN 5V port on the rear of the Grace Link. Plug the adapter into a standard wall outlet. The unit will power on automatically or can be powered on using the front panel button.

3.2 Network Connection (Wi-Fi or LAN)

The Grace Link requires an internet connection to access most of its features. You can connect via Wi-Fi or a wired LAN connection.

  • Wi-Fi: Ensure the Wi-Fi antenna is assembled before using the internet radio. Navigate to the "Radio Settings" menu on the 2.8-inch color display, select "Network settings," and follow the on-screen prompts to connect to your home Wi-Fi network.
  • LAN: For a stable wired connection, connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the RJ45 LAN port on the rear of the Grace Link.

3.3 Audio Output Connection

Connect the Grace Link to your stereo system or powered speakers using one of the following methods:

  • Analog Outputs: Use RCA cables to connect the L OUT R (analog) ports on the Grace Link to the corresponding audio input ports on your stereo receiver.
  • Digital Outputs: For pure digital audio, use a coaxial or optical (TOSLINK) cable to connect the DIGITAL OUTPUT ports on the Grace Link to your receiver's digital input.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Front Panel Controls and Display

The Grace Link features a 2.8-inch color display for easy navigation through menus, settings, and apps. Use the front panel buttons and the tune/select knob to browse options, select stations, and adjust settings.

4.2 Remote Control

The included infra-red remote control provides full functionality from a distance. It allows you to power on/off, adjust volume, navigate menus, select stations, and manage presets.

4.3 Smartphone App Control

For enhanced control, download the official Grace Digital smartphone app. This app allows you to manage all functions of your Grace Link from your iPhone, iPad, Android phone, or tablet.

4.4 Accessing Audio Content

The Grace Link offers multiple ways to enjoy audio content:

  • Internet Radio: Access over 100,000 internet radio stations worldwide. Navigate to "Internet Radio" on the display and browse by genre, location, or popularity.
  • Built-in Apps: Enjoy integrated services like Spotify Connect, Pandora, Amazon Music HD, Prime, and Unlimited, iHeartRadio, Radio.com, BBC, NPR, Sleep Sounds, Calm Radio, Shoutcast, Live365, and Podcasts. Select "Audio Services" from the main menu to access these.
  • Chromecast Built-in: Stream music directly from hundreds of compatible apps on your phone, tablet, or laptop to your Grace Link.
  • Bluetooth 5.0: Pair your smartphone or other Bluetooth-enabled device to stream audio wirelessly to the Grace Link.
  • UPnP / DNLA Media Servers: Play audio files from compatible media servers on your home network.
  • Analog Inputs: Connect external audio sources like a CD player or turntable to the analog input ports on the rear of the unit to stream their audio through the Grace Link.

4.5 Presets and Favorites

The Grace Link supports up to 100,000 Internet radio stations and 100 presets for your favorite internet radio stations, services, or podcasts. Use the remote control or front panel buttons to save and recall your preferred content.

4.6 Audio Quality and Equalizer

The unit supports Hi-Res audio files up to 24-bit/192kHz. A built-in 5-band equalizer allows you to customize the audio output to your preference. Access equalizer settings via the "Radio Settings" menu.

5. Maintenance

  • Keep the unit in a dry, dust-free environment.
  • Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating.
  • Regularly check for firmware updates via the "Radio Settings" menu to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the unit and a working power outlet.
  • No Internet Connection: Verify your Wi-Fi network is active and the Grace Link is connected. Check network settings in the "Radio Settings" menu. For LAN, ensure the Ethernet cable is properly connected.
  • No Audio Output: Check all audio cable connections between the Grace Link and your stereo system. Ensure your stereo system is set to the correct input source and its volume is adjusted.
  • Distorted Audio: Check the audio source quality. Adjust the built-in 5-band equalizer settings. Ensure volume levels are not excessively high on either the Grace Link or your connected audio system.
  • Bluetooth Pairing Issues: Ensure the Grace Link is in Bluetooth streaming mode and discoverable. Check your mobile device's Bluetooth settings and try re-pairing.
  • Unit Unresponsive: Perform a soft reset by unplugging the power adapter for a few seconds and then plugging it back in. If issues persist, a "Factory Reset" can be performed via the "Radio Settings" menu (note: this will erase all personalized settings).
