Tetra AirSilent Mini

Tetra AirSilent Mini Aquarium Air Pump

Model: AirSilent Mini (10-40 L)

1. Introduction

The Tetra AirSilent Mini is a compact and quiet air pump designed to provide essential oxygenation for small aquariums ranging from 10 to 40 liters. Proper oxygen levels are crucial for the health and well-being of your fish and aquatic plants. This complete set includes the air pump, air hose, and an air stone, ensuring a reliable and efficient air supply to your aquatic environment.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Electrical Safety: Always unplug the air pump from the power outlet before performing any maintenance, cleaning, or handling the unit. Ensure your hands are dry when plugging or unplugging the device.
  • Drip Loop: Create a 'drip loop' with the power cord to prevent water from running down the cord and into the electrical outlet.
  • Placement: Position the air pump above the water level of your aquarium to prevent water backflow into the pump. If placing below water level, a check valve (non-return valve) must be installed on the air hose to prevent water from siphoning back into the pump during a power outage.
  • Indoor Use Only: This product is designed for indoor use in freshwater or saltwater aquariums only. Do not use it for any other purpose.
  • Children and Pets: Keep the device out of reach of children and pets to prevent accidental damage or injury.
  • Damage: Do not operate the pump if the power cord or plug is damaged. Contact customer support for assistance.

3. Package Contents

Please check the package to ensure all components are present:

  • Tetra AirSilent Mini Air Pump
  • Air Hose
  • Air Stone
  • Check Valve (Non-return valve)

4. Setup

  1. Positioning the Pump: Place the Tetra AirSilent Mini air pump on a stable, flat surface above the water level of your aquarium. If this is not possible, ensure the included check valve is installed correctly on the air hose.
  2. Connecting the Air Hose: Connect one end of the air hose to the air outlet nozzle on the air pump.
  3. Attaching the Air Stone: Connect the other end of the air hose to the air stone.
  4. Installing the Check Valve (if needed): If the pump is placed below the aquarium water level, cut the air hose and insert the check valve in line with the arrow on the valve pointing towards the air stone/aquarium. This prevents water from flowing back into the pump.
  5. Placing the Air Stone: Submerge the air stone in your aquarium. You can use a suction cup (not included) to secure it to the bottom or side of the tank if desired.
  6. Drip Loop: Arrange the power cord to form a drip loop below the electrical outlet to prevent water from reaching the outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

Once the setup is complete and all connections are secure, plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet. The air pump will immediately begin to operate, producing a steady stream of air bubbles from the air stone in your aquarium. The Tetra AirSilent Mini is designed for continuous operation to maintain consistent oxygen levels.

6. Maintenance

  • Air Stone Cleaning: Over time, air stones can become clogged with algae or mineral deposits, reducing airflow. Periodically remove the air stone and clean it by gently scrubbing or soaking it in a mild bleach solution (rinse thoroughly before reintroducing to the aquarium). Replace the air stone if cleaning does not restore adequate airflow.
  • Air Hose Inspection: Regularly check the air hose for kinks, blockages, or damage. Replace the hose if it becomes brittle or damaged.
  • Pump Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the air pump with a damp cloth to remove dust and debris. Do not immerse the pump in water.
  • Internal Components: The Tetra AirSilent Mini is designed for minimal internal maintenance. Do not attempt to open the pump housing, as this may void the warranty and could lead to electrical hazards.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Air Bubbles:
    • Check if the pump is plugged in and the power outlet is functional.
    • Ensure the air hose is securely connected to both the pump and the air stone.
    • Inspect the air hose for kinks or blockages.
    • Check the air stone for severe clogging. Clean or replace if necessary.
  • Reduced Airflow:
    • Verify that the air hose is not kinked or partially blocked.
    • Clean or replace the air stone if it appears partially clogged.
  • Excessive Noise:
    • Ensure the pump is placed on a stable, flat surface and is not vibrating against the aquarium glass or other objects.
    • Check that the air hose is not causing vibrations by touching the tank or stand.
