7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, refer to the following common solutions:

  • No Display on Monitor:
    • Ensure all HDMI cables are securely connected to both the KVM switch and the computers/monitor.
    • Verify the KVM switch is powered on and the correct input is selected.
    • Try connecting the computer directly to the monitor to confirm the computer's video output is functional.
    • Restart the KVM switch and the connected computers.
  • Keyboard or Mouse Not Working:
    • Ensure the keyboard and mouse are plugged into the dedicated USB ports on the KVM switch's front panel.
    • Verify the USB-A to USB-B cables are securely connected from each computer to the corresponding USB input on the KVM switch.
    • Try connecting the keyboard and mouse to the USB 2.0 HUB ports if the dedicated ports are not functioning.
    • Some specialized gaming keyboards/mice may require direct connection or specific drivers; try a standard keyboard/mouse to isolate the issue.
    • Unplug and re-plug the USB cables for the affected peripherals.
  • Resolution Issues (e.g., stuck at 720P):
    • The KVM switch has an internal EDID. You may need to manually set the display resolution on your computer's operating system settings to 1080P or 4K@30Hz.
    • Ensure your monitor and graphics card support the desired resolution.
  • Remote Control Interference:
    • If other remote controls (e.g., TV, soundbar) cause unintended switching, try to minimize their use near the KVM switch's IR receiver.
    • Consider covering the KVM's IR receiver if remote control functionality is not frequently used or if interference is persistent.
  • Slow Switching Time:
    • A switching time of 3-5 seconds is normal for KVM switches as they re-establish connections.
    • Ensure all cables are of good quality and properly connected.
