4. Setup
4.1. Placement
Optimal placement of your subwoofer can significantly impact sound quality. Consider the following:
- Corner Placement: Placing the subwoofer in a corner can maximize its output and enhance bass impact.
- Near Main Speakers: For seamless blending with your main speakers, place the subwoofer in the front of the room, ideally between or near your main left and right speakers.
- Avoid Obstructions: Ensure the down-firing port is not obstructed to allow proper air movement.

4.2. Connections
The Monoprice SW-10 offers multiple connection options:
- RCA (Line In / Sub In): Connect an RCA cable from your receiver's dedicated subwoofer output (LFE or Sub Out) to the LFE IN (unfiltered) input on the subwoofer. If your receiver has stereo preamp outputs, connect them to the LINE IN (filtered) L and R inputs.
- Speaker Level: If your amplifier lacks dedicated subwoofer or preamp outputs, connect your amplifier's speaker outputs to the SPEAKER LEVEL inputs on the subwoofer using speaker wire. Then, connect the subwoofer's speaker level outputs to your main speakers.

4.3. Power Connection
Connect the included power cord to the AC power inlet on the rear panel of the subwoofer, then plug the other end into a standard AC wall outlet.
5. Operating the Subwoofer
The rear panel features several controls to fine-tune your subwoofer's performance:
- Volume Level: Adjusts the overall output level of the subwoofer. Start with a low setting and gradually increase until the bass blends seamlessly with your main speakers.
- Low-Pass Filter: This control sets the upper frequency limit for the subwoofer. Adjust it to match the low-frequency capabilities of your main speakers. A common starting point is 80 Hz.
- Phase Control (0°/180°): Adjusts the phase of the subwoofer's output relative to your main speakers. Experiment with both settings to find the one that provides the most impactful and coherent bass.
- Power Mode (On/Auto):
- On: The subwoofer remains continuously powered on.
- Auto: The subwoofer will automatically turn on when an audio signal is detected and enter standby mode after a period of inactivity.
6. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your subwoofer:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the cabinet. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Placement: Keep the subwoofer away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture.
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate airflow around the rear panel to prevent overheating.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your subwoofer, refer to the following common solutions:
- No Power:
- Check if the power cord is securely connected to both the subwoofer and the wall outlet.
- Verify the wall outlet is functioning by plugging in another device.
- Ensure the Power Mode switch is set to "On" or "Auto".
- No Sound:
- Confirm that the audio cables (RCA or speaker wire) are correctly connected between the subwoofer and your receiver/amplifier.
- Increase the Volume Level on the subwoofer.
- Check your receiver/amplifier settings to ensure the subwoofer output is enabled and the volume is not muted.
- Distorted Sound:
- Reduce the Volume Level on the subwoofer and/or your receiver/amplifier.
- Adjust the Low-Pass Filter to ensure it's not set too high, causing overlap with your main speakers.
- Experiment with the Phase Control (0°/180°) for better integration.
