3. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your WAVLINK 13-in-1 USB C Docking Station:

1. Connect the Docking Station to your Laptop: Plug the integrated USB-C cable from the docking station into a compatible USB-C port on your laptop. Ensure your laptop's USB-C port supports video output (DisplayPort Alternate Mode) for display functionality.
2. Connect Power (Optional but Recommended): If your laptop supports USB Power Delivery, connect your laptop's original USB-C power adapter to the PD charging port on the docking station. This will provide up to 60W power delivery to your laptop and 27W to other peripherals.
3. Connect External Displays: Connect your monitors to the HDMI 1, HDMI 2, and/or DisplayPort (DP) outputs on the docking station using appropriate cables.
4. Connect USB Peripherals: Plug in your USB devices such as keyboards, mice, external hard drives, or printers into the available USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 ports.
5. Connect to Network: For a stable wired internet connection, connect an Ethernet cable from your router or modem to the Gigabit RJ45 port on the docking station.

4.1 Display Modes

The docking station supports various display configurations depending on your operating system and laptop's capabilities.

Windows System Display Modes

Windows systems support both Mirror (SST) and Extend (MST) modes for multiple displays.

• Triple Display: When connecting 2 HDMI ports and 1 DP port simultaneously, the HDMI and DP monitors can display one identical screen. The resolution will be limited to 1920x1080@60Hz.
• Dual Display: If you connect 2 HDMI ports or 1 HDMI + 1 DP port, both extended screens will operate at 1920x1080@60Hz.
• Single 4K Display: For 4K@60Hz resolution, connect only to HDMI 1 or the DP port. For 4K@30Hz, connect only to HDMI 2.

macOS System Display Modes

Due to macOS limitations, Multi-Stream Transport (MST) is not supported. macOS only supports Mirror mode and non-mirror (extended) mode where all external monitors display the same content, but different from the laptop screen.

• Triple Display: All three external monitors will display the same content, which can be mirrored or extended from the laptop's display. Resolutions for HDMI1, HDMI2, and DP will be 1920x1080@60Hz.
• Single 4K Display: For 4K@60Hz resolution, connect only to HDMI 1 or the DP port. For 4K@30Hz, connect only to HDMI 2.

Important Display Notes:

• Ensure your laptop's USB-C port supports video output (DisplayPort Alternate Mode).
• For 4K@60Hz output, your laptop's USB-C port should support DP1.4. Otherwise, you may only achieve 4K@30Hz.

4.2 Data Transfer

The docking station provides high-speed data transfer capabilities:

• USB 3.0 Ports: Two Super Speed USB 3.0 ports offer data transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps.
• USB 2.0 Ports: Two USB 2.0 ports provide transfer speeds up to 480 Mbps. It is advisable to connect USB 2.0 ports for stable Wi-Fi connections due to potential USB 3.0 radio frequency interference.
• SD/TF Card Slots: Built-in SD and TF card slots allow easy access to files from memory cards with speeds up to 5 Gbps.

4.3 Power Delivery

The 87W PD3.0 pass-through charging port allows you to power your laptop and connected peripherals:

• Up to 60W power delivery to your laptop.
• Up to 27W power delivery to other peripherals.

Note:

• The Type-C PD charging port is only applicable to devices with the PD protocol.

4.4 Network Connectivity

  • For macOS, remember that external displays will mirror or show the same extended content, not independent extended displays.
• Intermittent Connections or Slow Speeds:

  • Try connecting USB 2.0 devices to the USB 2.0 ports to avoid potential interference with Wi-Fi signals.
  • Ensure all cables are securely connected.
• Charging Issues:
  • Confirm your laptop and power adapter support USB Power Delivery (PD) protocol.
  • Use your laptop's original power adapter with the docking station's PD port.
• Ethernet Not Working:
