Setup and Installation
- Choose a Mounting Location: Select a flat, clean, and stable surface on your equipment where the hour meter can be securely attached and is exposed to the machine's vibration during operation. Ensure the location is not excessively hot or prone to direct impact.
- Clean the Surface: Thoroughly clean the chosen mounting surface to remove any dirt, grease, or debris. Allow it to dry completely.
- Apply Double-Sided Tape: Peel one side of the provided double-sided adhesive tape and firmly apply it to the back of the hour meter.
- Attach the Hour Meter: Peel the other side of the double-sided tape and carefully press the hour meter onto the cleaned mounting surface. Apply firm pressure for a few seconds to ensure a strong bond.
- Initial Check: Once installed, start your machine briefly to confirm the hour meter detects vibration and begins accumulating time.
Operating Instructions
1. Total Hours (TOT)
- The hour meter automatically accumulates total working hours (TOT) when it detects vibration from the engine or machine.
- The TOT hours are non-resettable, providing a permanent record of the machine's total operational time.
- The display shows hours up to 99,999 hours with an accuracy of 0.1 hours.
2. Partial Timer (PAR)
- The partial timer allows you to track specific maintenance intervals.
- To reset the partial timer, press and hold the 'S' button for approximately 3 seconds until the PAR display resets to 0.0.
- This feature is useful for scheduling routine maintenance tasks like oil changes or filter replacements.
3. Adjusting Vibration Sensitivity
The hour meter offers two vibration sensitivity settings to ensure accurate timing across different types of equipment:
- Low Sensitivity (LO): Select this setting for machines with strong vibrations, typically with a frequency range greater than 32Hz. This prevents over-counting due to excessive vibration.
- High Sensitivity (HI): Select this setting for machines with weaker vibrations, typically with a frequency range greater than 4Hz. This ensures the meter accurately detects operation on less vibratory equipment.
- To switch between LO and HI sensitivity, refer to the specific instructions on the included paper manual or press the 'S' button repeatedly until the desired sensitivity is displayed.
4. Lock Shutdown Mode
- The hour meter can be put into a lock shutdown mode to extend battery life during periods of inactivity or transport.
- To activate lock shutdown, press and hold the 'S' button until "LOC" appears on the display. The display will then turn off.
- To reactivate the display and normal operation, press the 'S' button again.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the hour meter with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Battery: The hour meter uses a CR2050 Lithium Metal battery. The battery is sealed within the unit and is not user-replaceable. The unit is designed for long-term use without battery replacement.
- Storage: If storing the hour meter for an extended period, activate the lock shutdown mode to conserve battery life. Store in a cool, dry place.
- Inspection: Periodically check the adhesive tape for secure attachment. Re-apply if necessary.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Meter not accumulating hours. | Insufficient vibration detected; Incorrect sensitivity setting; Meter in lock shutdown mode; Improper mounting. |
|
| Display is blank. | Meter in lock shutdown mode; Battery depleted (unlikely for new unit). | Press 'S' button to reactivate the display. If still blank, contact customer support. |
| Inaccurate hour readings. | Incorrect sensitivity setting; External vibrations affecting meter. | Adjust sensitivity (LO for strong, HI for weak). Ensure meter is not picking up vibrations from other sources. |
