Frizzlife PD500 Tankless Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System

User Manual

1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Frizzlife PD500 Tankless Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System. The PD500 system is designed to deliver high-quality filtered water by utilizing a 5-stage filtration mechanism, effectively reducing over 1000 types of contaminants including lead, chlorine, fluoride, heavy metals, and TDS. Its tankless design offers a compact footprint, saving up to 70% of under-sink space and preventing secondary contamination often associated with traditional RO tanks.

Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and longevity of your system.

2. Safety Information

  • Always shut off the main water supply before performing any installation or maintenance.
  • Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.
  • Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.
  • Keep the system away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Do not use tools to overtighten plastic fittings, as this may cause damage. Hand-tighten plus a quarter turn is usually sufficient.
  • Ensure proper electrical grounding if the system requires power.

3. Product Overview

The Frizzlife PD500 system features a compact, tankless design with two large filter cartridges providing 5 stages of filtration. It boasts a high output of 500 GPD (Gallons Per Day) and an efficient 1.5:1 pure to drain ratio.

4. Setup and Installation

The Frizzlife PD500 system is designed for DIY installation. Follow these steps carefully. A step-by-step instructional video is also available for visual guidance.

Video 4.1: Official Frizzlife installation guide for the PD400/PD500 Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System. This video demonstrates the complete installation process from preparing tubing to flushing the system.

4.1. Prepare Tubing and System Connections

  1. Cut the supply water tube (3/8"), waste water tube (red), and filtered water tube (1/4") to proper lengths using a sharp tool for clean, straight cuts.
  2. Remove the dust cover from the system.
  3. Use the provided tool to remove the three plugs from the "Filtered", "Waste", and "Supply" ports on the back of the unit.
  4. Insert the corresponding tubings into their respective ports until they reach the very end.
  5. Secure the tubings by locking them with the blue clips provided.

4.2. Install the Tee Valve

  1. Soften the 3/8" supply tube end with boiled water to facilitate installation.
  2. Install the Tee valve onto the softened 3/8" supply tube. Ensure the rubber gasket is properly seated inside the Tee valve.
  3. Shut off the cold water supply to your sink.
  4. Remove the existing water hose from the cold water supply valve.
  5. Connect the Tee valve to the cold water supply valve. If your valve size is 1/2", use the provided 1/2" adapter.
  6. Reconnect the original water hose to the top of the Tee valve and tighten all connections securely with a wrench.

4.3. Install the Drain Saddle

  1. Drill a 1/4" hole on the drain pipe under your sink.
  2. Place the adhesive sticker over the drilled hole on the drain pipe.
  3. Insert the waste water tubing (red) through the drain saddle.
  4. Position the drain saddle over the drilled hole and fasten it with the provided screws, ensuring a tight seal.

4.4. Install the Faucet

  1. If your sink does not have an existing hole for the faucet, drill a 1/2" hole in a suitable location on your countertop or sink.
  2. Mount the faucet seat and rubber gasket onto the faucet stem.
  3. Insert the faucet stem through the drilled hole. From underneath the sink, mount the rubber first, then fasten with the hand fixture and nut.
  4. Attach the provided 1/4" water fitting to the bottom of the faucet stem.
  5. Connect the filtered water tube (1/4") from the RO system to this fitting.

4.5. Final Steps

  1. Once all connections are made, turn on the cold water supply valves and check for any leaks.
  2. Plug in the power supply to the RO system.
  3. Press the "Flush" button on the unit to initiate flushing. Flush the system for approximately 20 minutes before initial use to remove any carbon fines and air from the filters.

4.6. Optional Upgrades (Not Included)

The Frizzlife PD500 system can be enhanced with optional accessories:

  • Mini Water Tank (MWT3): Addresses initial lag of water outflow and provides stable water pressure, especially when connected to refrigerators.
  • Alkaline Post Filter (TD-9): Adds beneficial minerals back into the water and raises pH for alkaline water.
  • Ice Maker Kit (IMC-1): Connects the RO system to your refrigerator's ice maker for purified ice and water.

5. Operating Instructions

After successful installation and initial flushing, your Frizzlife PD500 system is ready for use. Simply open the dedicated RO faucet to dispense purified water. The system will automatically filter water as needed.

The smart filter life indicator on the unit will provide visual and audible alerts when it's time to replace the filters.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Filter Cartridge Replacement

The Frizzlife PD500 uses two main filter cartridges: ASR211 (Composite Pre-Filter) and ASR212-500 (RO Membrane). The system's smart indicator will alert you when replacement is due. Typically, the ASR211 filter lasts about 1 year, and the ASR212-500 RO membrane lasts about 2 years, depending on water quality and usage.

  1. Turn off the power supply to the RO system.
  2. Shut off the water supply to the system using the Tee valve.
  3. Remove the dust cover from the front of the unit.
  4. To remove a filter cartridge, push it in slightly and turn it counter-clockwise until it unlocks. Pull the old cartridge out.
  5. Insert the new filter cartridge into the slot, push it in, and turn clockwise until it locks securely.
  6. Replace the dust cover.
  7. Turn on the water supply and power.
  8. Press and hold the "Reset" button for 3 seconds to reset the filter life indicator for the replaced filter.
  9. Flush the system for a few minutes after replacing filters to remove any air or carbon fines.

Replacement filters can be found by searching for ASR211 and ASR212-500.

6.2. General Cleaning

Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No water flow from faucet Water supply off, clogged filters, air in system, power off. Check water supply valve, replace filters, flush system, check power connection.
Slow water flow Clogged filters, low water pressure, air in system. Replace filters, check household water pressure, flush system. Consider optional Mini Water Tank (MWT3) for improved flow.
Water tastes bad or has odor Expired filters, initial flushing incomplete. Replace filters (ASR211, ASR212-500), flush system for longer (20-30 minutes).
Leaks at connections Loose fittings, improperly seated O-rings/gaskets, damaged tubing. Ensure all fittings are hand-tightened securely. Check O-rings/gaskets for proper seating. Inspect tubing for damage and replace if necessary.
System indicator lights flashing/beeping Filter replacement reminder. Replace the indicated filter cartridge and reset the indicator by pressing the "Reset" button for 3 seconds.
