Setup

Charging the Batteries

Both the transmitter and receiver are equipped with rechargeable Lithium Polymer batteries. Before first use, fully charge both units for approximately 2 hours. The LED indicator on each unit will turn solid green when fully charged.

  1. Connect the charger to a standard wall outlet.
  2. Attach the charger clips to the charging ports on the transmitter and receiver.
  3. Ensure a secure connection. The LED indicator will show charging status.

Fitting the Receiver Collar

Proper fit of the receiver collar is crucial for effective and safe operation. The collar should be snug enough to allow the contact points to make reliable contact with the dog's skin, but not so tight as to restrict breathing or cause discomfort.

  • Position the receiver on the dog's neck, directly below the ears, on either side of the windpipe.
  • The contact points must touch the skin. If your dog has thick fur, you may need to trim some hair to ensure good contact.
  • The collar should be snug enough that you can only fit one finger comfortably between the contact points and your dog's neck.
  • The Dogtra IQ Plus is designed for dogs weighing 10 lbs and up.

Turning On/Off

To turn on the receiver, hold the On/Off button until the LED indicator illuminates. To turn off, hold the On/Off button until the LED indicator turns off. The transmitter typically turns on automatically when a button is pressed or has a dedicated On/Off button.

Operating

Stimulation Modes

The Dogtra IQ Plus offers three primary training modes:

  • Nick (N): Delivers a single, quick pulse of static stimulation.
  • Constant (C): Delivers continuous static stimulation for up to 12 seconds, or as long as the button is pressed.
  • Pager (P): Delivers a non-stimulating vibration. This can be used as a warning or for sensitive dogs.

Stimulation Intensity

The transmitter features a 100-level front-facing dial to adjust the stimulation intensity. Start at the lowest level and gradually increase until your dog responds with a slight head turn or ear twitch. Always use the lowest effective level.

Range

The Dogtra IQ Plus system has an impressive range of up to 400 yards, allowing for effective training in various outdoor environments.

1-Dog/2-Dog Selector Switch

The transmitter includes a switch to select between training one dog or two dogs simultaneously (requires an additional receiver collar, sold separately). Ensure the switch is set to the correct dog when operating.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the receiver collar and contact points with a damp cloth. Ensure no dirt or debris accumulates around the contact points.
  • Battery Care: Recharge the batteries as needed. Avoid fully depleting the batteries frequently to prolong their lifespan. If storing for an extended period, charge the batteries to about 50% and store in a cool, dry place.
  • Waterproof Rating: The receiver is IPX9K-rated waterproof, meaning it can withstand high-pressure, high-temperature spray downs. However, always ensure the charging port cover is securely closed when not charging to maintain water resistance.
  • Storage: Store the unit in a dry place at room temperature. Keep away from children.
