5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your VTech CM18445 system, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Dial Tone/System Not Functioning:
- Verify all phone lines are securely connected to the main console.
- Ensure the power adapter is properly connected and the console is receiving power.
- Check if the 4 AA backup batteries are installed and charged, especially after a power interruption.
- Cordless Accessories Not Connecting/Communicating:
- Ensure cordless desksets and handsets are within range of the main console.
- Confirm that cordless accessories are properly registered to the main console. Refer to Section 2.2 for registration steps.
- Verify that cordless desksets are plugged into a working power outlet.
- Call History/Directory Issues:
- The call history may not display which specific line a call came in on. This is a system characteristic.
- Directories are typically not shared between individual extensions. Each extension may maintain its own directory.
- Auto Attendant Behavior:
- The auto attendant's day/night messages apply to weekends as well as weekdays. There is no separate setting for weekend hours.
- To leave a message when using the auto attendant, callers may need to press the star key (*) twice.
- Managing Multiple Lines:
- If you pick up the phone when Line 1 is on hold, the system may automatically connect you to Line 2 if it's ringing. To specifically pick up Line 1, press the Line 1 button. Pressing Line 1 when Line 2 is active will put Line 2 on hold.
