Installation Guide

Follow these steps for proper installation of your cabinet knobs or handles.

  1. Prepare the Cabinet Door/Drawer:

If replacing existing hardware, remove the old knobs or handles. If installing on new cabinets, determine the desired placement for your knob or handle. For handles, ensure the center-to-center distance (pitch-row) matches the handle's specifications.

Image showing various sizes of Delmitan Solid Core Brass+Nordic Black cabinet handles with their corresponding pitch-row specifications and overall lengths. Examples include 64mm pitch-row for 100mm length, 96mm for 156mm, 128mm for 198mm, and 160mm for 220mm.

Figure 2: Various handle sizes and their pitch-row measurements. This image helps in selecting the correct handle size based on the required drilling distance.

  2. Mark Drilling Points:

For knobs, mark a single point. For handles, mark two points corresponding to the handle's pitch-row (distance between screw holes). Use a ruler and pencil for accuracy. A template can be helpful for consistent placement across multiple cabinets.

  3. Drill Pilot Holes:

Using a drill with a bit slightly smaller than the screw diameter, carefully drill pilot holes through the marked points. Drill from the front of the cabinet door/drawer to prevent splintering on the visible surface.

  4. Attach the Knob/Handle:

Align the knob or handle with the drilled holes. Insert the mounting screws from the inside of the cabinet door/drawer and thread them into the knob/handle. Tighten securely with a screwdriver, but do not overtighten, as this can strip the threads or damage the cabinet material.

Operation

These cabinet knobs and handles are designed for simple and reliable operation. Grasp the knob or handle firmly and pull to open cabinet doors or drawers. Push to close. Ensure the cabinet mechanism (hinges, drawer slides) is functioning correctly for smooth operation.

Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Wipe the knobs and handles regularly with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn marks, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by drying with a clean, soft cloth.
  • Avoid Chemicals: Do not use abrasive cleaners, ammonia-based products, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the Nordic Black finish and brass material.
  • Check Tightness: Periodically check the mounting screws for tightness. If a knob or handle feels loose, gently tighten the screw from the inside of the cabinet.

Troubleshooting

Problem: Knob/Handle is loose.
Solution: Tighten the mounting screw from the inside of the cabinet door or drawer. If the screw hole is stripped, you may need to use a larger screw or a wall anchor designed for wood.
Problem: Difficulty opening/closing cabinet.
Solution: This is likely an issue with the cabinet hinges or drawer slides, not the knob/handle itself. Check and adjust or lubricate the cabinet's moving parts.
Problem: Finish appears dull or discolored.
Solution: Ensure you are cleaning with a soft cloth and avoiding harsh chemicals. For brass components, a brass cleaner can be used sparingly if tarnish occurs, but avoid applying it to the Nordic Black finish.
