4. Fuel and Starting Procedures
Fuel Requirements:
This unit is powered by a 2-stroke engine and requires a mixture of gasoline and 2-stroke engine oil. Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 89 or higher. Mix with ECHO-approved 2-stroke oil at a 50:1 ratio (50 parts gasoline to 1 part oil).
- Do not use E85 fuel.
- Always mix fuel in an approved container.
- Shake the fuel mixture thoroughly before filling the tank.
Starting the Engine:
- Place the blower on a flat, stable surface.
- Ensure the ignition switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Push the primer bulb 5-7 times until fuel is visible in the return line.
- Move the choke lever to the 'CLOSED' (full choke) position.
- Pull the starter handle firmly and smoothly until the engine attempts to start (usually 1-3 pulls).
- Once the engine 'pops' or attempts to start, move the choke lever to the 'HALF CHOKE' position.
- Pull the starter handle again until the engine starts.
- Allow the engine to warm up for 30-60 seconds, then move the choke lever to the 'OPEN' (run) position.
Stopping the Engine:
To stop the engine, simply move the ignition switch to the 'OFF' position.
5. Operating the Blower
Wearing the Backpack Blower:
Carefully lift the blower and place it on your back. Adjust the shoulder straps and chest strap (if equipped) for a snug and comfortable fit. The weight should be evenly distributed across your shoulders and hips.
Using the Tube-Mounted Throttle:
- The throttle lever controls engine speed and air output.
- Increase engine speed gradually to avoid sudden torque.
- Use the cruise control feature to maintain a desired engine speed without continuously holding the throttle lever.
Operating Tips:
- Work in a sweeping motion, moving debris in front of you.
- Direct the air stream carefully to avoid blowing debris into unwanted areas or towards people/property.
- For heavy, wet debris, use short, powerful bursts of air.
- Always be aware of your surroundings and potential hazards.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your ECHO PB-9010T blower. Always disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance.
Maintenance Schedule:
- After Each Use: Clean the exterior of the blower. Check for loose fasteners.
- Every 5-10 Hours of Operation: Clean or replace the air filter. Inspect the spark plug.
- Every 25-50 Hours of Operation: Replace the spark plug. Inspect the fuel filter.
- Annually: Have the unit inspected by an authorized service dealer.
Air Filter:
The air filter is crucial for engine protection. Access the air filter cover (tool-less design), remove the filter, and clean it with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before reinstallation. Replace if damaged or excessively dirty.
Spark Plug:
Remove the spark plug using a spark plug wrench. Inspect for carbon buildup or wear. Clean or replace as necessary. Ensure the correct gap is maintained (refer to the specifications section).
Fuel Filter:
The fuel filter is located inside the fuel tank. Periodically check for debris and replace if clogged. Use a hook or wire to carefully retrieve the filter from the tank.
Storage:
Before storing the blower for an extended period, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor. Clean the unit thoroughly and store in a dry, well-ventilated area, out of reach of children.
