Operating Instructions

Making Espresso:

  1. Prepare the Portafilter: Insert either the single or double espresso filter into the portafilter.
  2. Add Ground Coffee: Use the dosing spoon to add freshly ground espresso coffee to the filter. For a single espresso, use one level spoon (approx. 7g). For a double, use two level spoons (approx. 14g).
  3. Tamp the Coffee: Use the tamper to press the coffee grounds firmly and evenly. Ensure the surface is level.
  4. Attach Portafilter: Align the portafilter with the "INSERT" position on the brew head. Insert it and turn it firmly to the right until it locks into the "LOCK" position.
  5. Preheat Cups (Optional): Place your espresso cups on the cup warming tray on top of the machine or rinse them with hot water.
  6. Brew Espresso: Place one or two cups under the portafilter spouts. Ensure the machine is heated (temperature gauge indicates optimal range). Turn the function knob to the espresso symbol (). The espresso will begin to flow.
  7. Stop Brewing: Once the desired amount of espresso is brewed, turn the function knob back to the standby position (O).
  8. Remove Portafilter: Carefully turn the portafilter to the left to unlock and remove it. Dispose of the used coffee grounds.

Frothing Milk for Cappuccino/Latte Macchiato:

  1. Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel milk pitcher with cold milk (preferably whole milk) to about one-third full.
  2. Activate Steam Function: Turn the function knob to the steam symbol (♨️). Wait for the machine to heat up to steam temperature (the indicator light will change or the gauge will show steam readiness).
  3. Purge Steam Wand: Briefly open the steam regulator knob to release any condensed water from the steam wand. Close it immediately.
  4. Froth Milk: Immerse the steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam regulator knob. Move the pitcher up and down slightly to create foam. Once the desired foam consistency and temperature are reached (pitcher becomes hot to touch), close the steam regulator knob.
  5. Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Briefly open the steam regulator knob again to clear any internal milk.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your BEEM ESPRESSO-SELECT machine.

Daily Cleaning:

  • Portafilter and Filter Inserts: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter inserts under running water.
  • Steam Wand: Immediately after frothing milk, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth and briefly purge steam to prevent milk residue buildup.
  • Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily or when the water level indicator shows it's full.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers.

Weekly Cleaning:

  • Water Tank: Remove the water tank and wash it with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and refill with fresh water.
  • Brew Head: Use a damp cloth to wipe the brew head area, removing any coffee grounds.

Descaling:

Depending on water hardness and frequency of use, descaling should be performed every 2-3 months. Use a commercial descaling solution suitable for espresso machines and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Always perform several rinse cycles with fresh water after descaling.
