Installation Instructions

Tools Required (Not Included):

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Wire strippers
  • Pliers
  • Electrical tape
  • Safety glasses
  • Ladder (if installing at height)

Installation Steps:

  1. Turn Off Power: Before starting any electrical work, ensure the power to the junction box is turned off at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
  2. Remove Existing Fixture (if applicable): Carefully remove any existing light fixture and its mounting bracket from the junction box.
  3. Attach Mounting Bracket: Secure the new mounting bracket to the junction box using the provided screws. Ensure it is firmly attached.
  4. Connect Wiring:
    • Connect the black wire from the fixture to the black (live) wire from the junction box using a wire nut.
    • Connect the white wire from the fixture to the white (neutral) wire from the junction box using a wire nut.
    • Connect the green (ground) wire from the fixture to the ground wire from the junction box (or to the ground screw on the mounting bracket) using a wire nut.
    • Ensure all connections are secure and insulated with electrical tape if necessary.
  5. Mount the Fixture: Align the fixture with the mounting bracket and secure it with the provided screws. Ensure the photocell sensor is positioned correctly (typically facing upwards or outwards to detect ambient light).
  6. Seal the Fixture: Apply a bead of silicone sealant around the edges of the fixture where it meets the mounting surface to prevent water intrusion, especially for outdoor installations.
  7. Restore Power: Once the fixture is securely mounted and wired, restore power at the circuit breaker.

Operating Instructions

1. Dusk to Dawn Mode (Default)

The LEPOWER security light is equipped with a built-in photocell sensor. In this mode, the light will automatically turn ON at dusk when ambient light levels fall below a certain threshold and turn OFF at dawn when sufficient natural light is detected.

  • Ensure the photocell sensor is unobstructed by eaves, trees, or other objects that might cast shadows, as this can interfere with its operation.
  • Avoid installing the light near other light sources (e.g., streetlights) that could cause the sensor to detect light and prevent the fixture from turning on.

2. Switch-Controlled Mode

If you prefer to control the light manually with a wall switch, you can disable the photocell sensor by placing the included silicone cap over it. This will convert the light to a standard switch-controlled floodlight.

  • To activate: Place the silicone cap firmly over the photocell sensor.
  • To deactivate: Remove the silicone cap from the photocell sensor.
  • Once the cap is in place, the light can be turned ON and OFF using your existing wall switch.

3. Adjusting Light Heads

The three light heads are independently adjustable, allowing you to direct the light precisely where needed. Each head can be rotated horizontally and tilted vertically to achieve a wide lighting angle of up to 270 degrees.

  • Gently loosen the adjustment screws on each light head.
  • Position the light heads to cover your desired area.
  • Tighten the adjustment screws to secure the heads in place.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the fixture with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the finish or electrical components.
  • Photocell Sensor: Ensure the photocell sensor remains clean and free of debris (e.g., leaves, dirt) to ensure proper operation in Dusk to Dawn mode.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the fixture for any signs of damage, loose wiring, or corrosion. If any issues are found, disconnect power and consult a qualified electrician for repair or replacement.
  • LEDs: The integrated LED lights are designed for long life and are not user-replaceable.
