Setup

Battery Installation

The T470 radios can be powered by either the included NiMH rechargeable battery pack or 3 AA alkaline batteries. To install, remove the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio. Charging the Radios

Use the provided Y-cable charging adaptor to charge both radios simultaneously. Connect the mini-USB connectors to the charging ports located at the bottom of each radio, underneath the rubber flap. Plug the AC adaptor into a standard wall outlet. The battery indicator on the radio's display will show charging status. A full charge typically takes several hours.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off and Volume

To power on the radio, rotate the top knob clockwise until you hear a click and the display illuminates. Continue rotating to increase the volume. To power off, rotate the knob counter-clockwise until it clicks off.

Channel and Privacy Codes

The T470 features 22 channels and 121 privacy codes. To select a channel, press the Menu button until the channel number flashes, then use the Up/Down buttons to change. Press Menu again to select a privacy code. Using privacy codes helps ensure clearer communication by filtering out unwanted transmissions from other radios not using the same code.

The radio also features a VibraCall alert, which vibrates to notify you of incoming calls, useful in noisy environments or when discretion is required.

NOAA Weather Radio & Alerts

Stay informed about changing weather conditions by accessing NOAA weather channels. The T470 can receive weather alerts, providing critical information during emergencies. Refer to the full user manual for detailed instructions on activating and managing weather alerts.

Maintenance

Weatherproofing (IPx4)

The IPx4 rating means the radio is resistant to splashing water from any direction. To maintain this protection, ensure all rubber seals and covers (like the USB port cover) are properly closed and free from debris. Do not submerge the radio in water.

Battery Care

To maximize battery life, fully charge the NiMH battery packs before first use. Store radios in a cool, dry place when not in use. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
