3. Setup

3.1 Assembly

The paint sprayer is designed for easy assembly without tools. Simply insert the spray gun into the main housing and lock it securely.

3.2 Paint Preparation

Proper paint preparation is crucial for optimal spraying results. The sprayer supports a maximum viscosity of up to 100-DINs, suitable for most paint types including latex paint, stains, sealers, urethanes, varnishes, lacquers, and chalk type paint.

  • Use the included viscosity cup to test the paint viscosity. If the paint is too thick, dilute it with the appropriate liquid thinning material recommended by the paint manufacturer.
  • Pour the prepared paint into the 1200ml large capacity container. Tighten the container securely to the spray gun.

3.3 Nozzle Selection and Spray Patterns

The sprayer comes with 4 nozzle sizes (1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm) and supports 3 spray patterns (vertical, horizontal, circular) to meet different spraying needs.

  • 1.5mm & 2.0mm Nozzles: Ideal for thin paints like sealers, varnish, dyes, polyurethane, chalk, and milk type paint.
  • 2.5mm & 3.0mm Nozzles: Suitable for thicker paints such as low viscosity primer and latex wall paint.
  • To change the spray pattern, switch the air cap to adjust between vertical, horizontal, or circular spray.

3.4 Adjustable Flow Control

Adjust the paint output thickness using the control valve knob on the sprayer. This allows for precise control of the paint flow rate, saving paint and ensuring a smooth finish.

3.5 Suction Tube Direction

To reduce the number of refills, adjust the suction tube direction based on your spraying angle:

  • Spraying Downwards: Point the end of the pickup tube towards the front of the gun.
  • Spraying Upwards: Point the end of the pickup tube towards the rear of the gun.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Pre-Spray Preparation

Before spraying, ensure the painting area is clean and dust-free to prevent dust from blowing into your freshly sprayed surface. Mask or cover any areas you do not wish to spray.

4.2 Spraying Technique

  • Test Spray: For first-time use or when changing paint, test spraying on a piece of paper or scrap wood to adjust settings and ensure proper spray pattern.
  • Distance: Position the sprayer perpendicular to the surface, typically 6-8 inches away for best results. A hand's length is usually a good distance.
  • Motion: Always spray in full, even passes. Avoid short, jerky motions or flexing your wrist, as this can lead to an uneven coating.
  • Speed: Maintain a consistent speed for full coverage. Do not spray too slowly, as this can cause paint to run.
  • Overlapping: Overlap each pass slightly to obtain the most consistent and professional finish possible.
  • Coats: Apply a thin coat on the first pass and allow it to dry before applying a second, slightly heavier coat for optimal coverage and finish.

5. Maintenance

Proper cleaning and maintenance are essential to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your paint sprayer. Clean immediately after usage to ensure normal operation for the next use.

5.1 Cleaning the Sprayer

  • Unplug the spray gun and press the trigger to allow any remaining material inside the spray gun to flow back into the container.
  • Unscrew the container and empty any remaining material back into its original container.
  • Pour a small amount of the appropriate cleaning solution (e.g., water for water-based paints, mineral spirits for oil-based paints) into the container. Reattach the container and flush the spray gun by spraying the cleaning solution into a waste bucket or designated area. Always flush outdoors if possible.
  • Unscrew the nut and remove the air cap and nozzle.
  • Clean the container, suction tube, air cap, and nozzle thoroughly with the provided cleaning brush or rinse in water.
  • Wipe the exterior of the container and the gun clean with a damp cloth.

5.2 Filter Inspection

Regularly inspect the filter in the air compressor (located at the rear of the main unit) to see if it is excessively dirty. If so, clean it to ensure proper airflow and prevent motor strain.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your paint sprayer, consider the following common troubleshooting tips:

  • Inconsistent Spray/Splats: This can be caused by paint that is too thick, an incorrect nozzle size, or a clogged nozzle. Ensure paint viscosity is correct, select the appropriate nozzle, and thoroughly clean the nozzle and air cap.
  • No Spray/Low Pressure: Check if the container is securely tightened. Ensure the suction tube is properly positioned and not clogged. Verify the air filter is clean and not obstructed.
  • Paint Runs: This usually indicates applying too much paint or spraying too slowly. Adjust your spraying speed and distance from the surface. Apply thinner coats.
