Setup

1. Installing Batteries

The keyboard and mouse require batteries for operation. If not pre-installed, insert the batteries according to the polarity indicators inside the battery compartments.

2. Connecting via Bluetooth

The Microsoft Bluetooth Desktop Bundle connects wirelessly via Bluetooth. Follow these steps to pair your devices:

  1. Ensure your computer has Bluetooth enabled.
  2. On the keyboard/mouse, locate and press the Bluetooth pairing button. The indicator light should start blinking, indicating pairing mode.
  3. On your Windows 10 PC, go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
  4. Click Add Bluetooth or other device, then select Bluetooth.
  5. Select "Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard" and "Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse" from the list of available devices.
  6. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process. The indicator light on the device will turn solid when successfully paired.

Note: The devices support Swift Pair for quick connection on Windows 10.

Operating Instructions

Keyboard Usage

The Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard provides a comfortable typing experience with enhanced durability. It features a full layout with a numeric keypad and integrated shortcut keys.

  • Function Keys (F1-F12): These keys often have secondary functions (e.g., media control, volume, brightness) accessible by pressing the Fn key simultaneously.
  • Dedicated Shortcut Keys:
    • Office Key: Quickly launch Microsoft Office applications.
    • Search Key: Access Windows Search.
    • Emoji Key: Open the emoji panel.
    • Media Controls: Play/pause, skip tracks, volume up/down.
    • Screen Capture Tool: Activate the snipping tool for screenshots.
    • Calculator Key: Open the Windows Calculator.
  • Customization: Many keys, including the Office and Emoji keys, can be customized through the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center software.

Mouse Usage

The Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse offers precise optical tracking and a dedicated scroll wheel for efficient navigation.

  • Left Button: Primary click function.
  • Right Button: Secondary click function, typically opens context menus.
  • Scroll Wheel: Scroll through documents and web pages. Can also be pressed for a middle-click function.
  • Tracking: The mouse provides smooth tracking on most surfaces, ensuring consistent performance.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To maintain optimal performance and appearance, clean your devices regularly:

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or solvents.
  • For the mouse, periodically clean the optical sensor area on the bottom to ensure accurate tracking.

Battery Replacement

When the battery indicator light (if present) signals low power, or if the devices become unresponsive, replace the batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the keyboard and mouse.
  2. Open the compartment cover.
  3. Remove the old batteries and dispose of them responsibly according to local regulations.
  4. Insert new batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  5. Close the compartment cover.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Microsoft Bluetooth Desktop Bundle, try the following solutions:
