2. Setup
2.1 Unboxing and Components
Your GOCOM G9 package includes:
- 4 x GOCOM G9 Adult FRS Walkie Talkies
- 2 x Desktop Chargers

- 12 x AA NiMH Rechargeable Batteries

2.2 Battery Installation and Charging
The GOCOM G9 walkie talkies use 3 AA NiMH rechargeable batteries (included) per unit. To install or replace batteries:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the walkie talkie.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert 3 AA NiMH batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Securely close the battery compartment cover.
To charge the walkie talkies:
- Place the walkie talkie into the desktop charger.
- Connect the Micro-USB cable to the desktop charger and a power source.
- The LCD screen will indicate charging status. A low battery alert will sound when batteries are running low, indicating a need for recharging.
2.3 Earpiece and Microphone Setup
Each walkie talkie comes with an earpiece and microphone combo for hands-free operation.
- Locate the waterproof cover on the side of the walkie talkie.
- Carefully pull down the waterproof cover to reveal the port.
- Plug the earpiece/microphone combo into the port.
- Attach the microphone clip to your shirt or collar for optimal voice pickup.
- Place the air-actuated earpiece over your ear.

3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Power On/Off
To power on the walkie talkie, press and hold the power button until the LCD screen illuminates. To power off, press and hold the power button again until the screen turns off.
3.2 Channel and Privacy Code Selection
The GOCOM G9 features 22 channels and 121 privacy codes. To select a channel or privacy code, use the up/down arrow buttons on the device. Setting a specific channel and privacy code helps ensure conversation privacy with your group.
3.3 Communication (Push-to-Talk & VOX)
To transmit your voice, press and hold the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button on the side of the walkie talkie or on the earpiece microphone. Release the button to listen.
The VOX function allows for hands-free communication. When activated, the radio will automatically transmit when it detects your voice, eliminating the need to press the PTT button. This is convenient when your hands are occupied.
3.4 NOAA Weather Alert
The NOAA Weather Scan feature automatically scans through 11 available weather (WX) band channels. It locks onto the strongest weather channel to provide severe weather updates. The NOAA Weather Alert will sound an alarm if there is a risk of severe weather in your area, keeping you informed and prepared.
3.5 SOS Emergency Lamp & LED Flashlight
The walkie talkie includes a built-in flashlight with white and red LEDs. Select the LED setting to illuminate your path during evening activities, unexpected emergencies, or power outages. In an emergency, press the SOS button to activate the SOS emergency lamp, which will transmit a blinking Morse code signal.

4. Maintenance
4.1 Waterproof Features and Care
The GOCOM G9 walkie talkies are IP67 waterproof, submersible, and floating. They feature a water-activated LED design and a dewatering system (bottom speaker hole water droplet) for use in aquatic environments.
- Ensure all port covers are securely closed before exposing the device to water.
- After exposure to saltwater, rinse the device with fresh water and dry thoroughly.
- Do not attempt to open the device or remove the battery cover when wet.

4.2 Battery Care
The 1200mAh Ni-MH rechargeable batteries provide extended use. To prolong battery life:
- Fully charge batteries before first use.
- Recharge when the low battery alert sounds.
- Avoid extreme temperatures during storage and operation.
4.3 General Cleaning
Wipe the walkie talkie with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

5.1 No Power / Device Not Turning On

5.2 Poor Audio Quality / No Reception

- Ensure you are within the effective communication range (up to 15 miles in optimal conditions). Obstacles like buildings and dense foliage can reduce range.
- Check the earpiece connection if using one.
- Adjust the volume level using the up/down arrow buttons.
5.3 Constant Beeping Sound
- A constant beeping sound often indicates a low battery. Recharge the walkie talkie immediately.
