Safety Information

Your safety is paramount. Please read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before assembling, operating, or servicing this heater. Failure to follow these instructions could result in fire, explosion, property damage, personal injury, or death.

  • Outdoor Use Only: This heater is designed for outdoor use only. Do not operate indoors or in enclosed areas.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not obstruct the flow of combustion and ventilation air.
  • Clearance: Maintain minimum clearances from combustible materials: 36 inches from sides and rear, 24 inches from top.
  • Propane Gas Only: Use only propane gas. Do not use natural gas or any other fuel.
  • Leak Check: Always perform a leak check on all gas connections after assembly and before each use.
  • Tilt Safety Switch: The heater is equipped with a built-in auto shut-off tilt safety switch that will turn off the heater if it tips over.
  • Ground Stakes: Utilize the included ground stakes for enhanced stability, especially in windy conditions.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the heater, especially when in operation.
  • Hot Surfaces: The heater's surfaces become extremely hot during operation. Avoid contact.
  • Storage: Store propane cylinders outdoors in a well-ventilated area, out of reach of children.

Setup and Assembly

Assembly of your Rangland Outdoor Heater is straightforward and typically takes approximately 25 minutes. All necessary parts for do-it-yourself installation are included. You will need an adjustable wrench and a Phillips head screwdriver (not included).

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully unpack all components and verify against the parts list in your packaging.
  2. Base Assembly: Assemble the base components, ensuring the wheels are securely attached for easy mobility.
  3. Pole and Tank Housing: Attach the main pole to the base and secure the propane tank housing.
  4. Burner and Reflector: Mount the burner assembly and the 32-inch wide coverage reflector to the top of the pole.
  5. Gas Line Connection: Connect the gas hose to the burner assembly and the propane tank regulator. Ensure all connections are tight.
  6. Propane Tank Installation: Place your 20lb or 30lb propane tank (not included) inside the base housing and connect the regulator.
  7. Leak Test: Before first use, perform a leak test on all gas connections using a soapy water solution. Bubbles indicate a leak. Do not operate if a leak is detected.
  8. Secure Heater: Use the included ground stakes to enhance stability, especially if the heater will be exposed to wind.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to safely operate your Rangland Outdoor Heater:

  1. Open Gas Valve: Slowly open the gas valve on the propane tank.
  2. Simple Start-Up Ignition System:
    • Set the control dial to the PILOT mode.
    • Hold the dial down for 30-45 seconds to purge air from the gas line.
    • While still holding the dial down, press the RED ignition button repeatedly until a flame appears at the pilot light.
    • Once the pilot flame is lit, continue holding the dial down for another 10 seconds before releasing it.
  3. Adjust Heat: Once the pilot is lit, turn the control dial to your desired heat setting (low or high).
  4. To Turn Off: Turn the control dial to the OFF position and close the gas valve on the propane tank.
