4. Setup and Connections

The Auna Pro PW speakers are passive and require an external amplifier for operation. Ensure your amplifier is capable of delivering sufficient power (750W RMS per channel at 8 Ohms) to drive these speakers effectively.

4.1 Unpacking

  1. Carefully remove the speakers from their packaging.
  2. Inspect the speakers for any signs of damage during transit. If damage is found, contact your retailer immediately.
  3. Retain the packaging for future transport or storage.

4.2 Placement

  • Place the speakers on a stable, flat surface. The speakers are designed for floor placement.
  • For optimal sound dispersion, consider using a compatible speaker stand with the integrated tripod flange.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the speakers.
  • Avoid placing speakers directly against walls or in corners, as this can affect bass response.

4.3 Connecting to an Amplifier

Each Auna Pro PW speaker offers multiple connection options on its rear panel.

Figure 4.2: Detailed view of the connection options.

  • PA Input/Output: Use standard PA speaker cables with compatible connectors to connect the speaker to your amplifier's output. The PA output can be used to daisy-chain another speaker if your amplifier and setup support it.
  • 6.3 mm Jack Inputs: Two 6.3 mm (1/4 inch) jack inputs are provided for alternative connections, typically used with instrument cables or other audio sources.
  • Stereo Screw Terminal Input: A gold-plated stereo screw terminal allows for direct wire connections from your amplifier. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) to avoid phase issues.

Important: Always ensure your amplifier is turned off before making any connections to prevent damage to your equipment. Use high-quality speaker cables of appropriate gauge for the distance and power requirements.

5. Operating Instructions

Once your Auna Pro PW speakers are properly connected to an amplifier, follow these steps for operation:

  1. Power On: Turn on your amplifier first, then your audio source (mixer, player, etc.).
  2. Volume Control: Start with the amplifier's volume control set to its minimum level.
  3. Play Audio: Begin playing audio from your source.
  4. Adjust Volume: Slowly increase the amplifier's volume to the desired listening level. Avoid pushing the amplifier or speakers to distortion, as this can cause damage.
  5. Power Off: When finished, turn off your audio source first, then the amplifier.

Note on Passive Speakers: These are passive speakers, meaning they do not have built-in amplification. They must be connected to an external power amplifier. Do not connect them directly to line-level audio sources (e.g., CD player, smartphone headphone jack) without an amplifier.

6. Maintenance and Care

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Auna Pro PW speakers.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the speaker cabinets. Do not use liquid cleaners, solvents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the finish and components.
  • Grille Care: The metal grilles protect the woofers. If they accumulate dust, gently brush them with a soft brush or use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment on a low setting.
  • Environment: Keep speakers away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, moisture, and extreme temperature changes.
  • Transport: When moving the speakers, use the integrated handles. For longer distances or rough terrain, ensure they are securely packed to prevent damage. The protective corners and felt covering are designed for durability during transport.
  • Storage: If storing the speakers for an extended period, keep them in a dry, temperate environment, ideally in their original packaging.
