3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation

- Press the 'Lock/Menu' button until the channel number starts to flash.
- Press the 'Up' or 'Down' button to change the channel number.
- Press the PTT button to exit the menu and save the setting.
4.3 Setting the Sub Codes
Sub-codes help ensure privacy by filtering out unwanted transmissions on the same channel.
- Press the 'Lock/Menu' button until the sub-code number starts to flash.
- Press the 'Up' or 'Down' button to select the desired sub-code number.
- Press the PTT button to exit the menu and save the setting.
4.4 Push-to-Talk (PTT) Communication
To transmit your voice, press and hold the PTT button. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to listen for a response.
4.5 VOX Hands-Free Operation
The VOX function allows voice-activated transmission without manually pressing the PTT button.

To activate NOAA Weather Scan, press the Lamp On/Off / Weather Switch button. The radio will scan 11 available weather (WX) band channels and lock onto the strongest signal. An alarm will sound if a severe weather alert is issued.
4.7 Flashlight and SOS Emergency Lamp
The radio includes a built-in LED flashlight and an SOS emergency lamp.

- Flashlight: Press the Lamp On/Off button to activate the white LED flashlight. Press again to turn off.
- SOS Emergency Lamp: Press the SOS button to activate the red SOS emergency lamp, which will transmit a blinking Morse code signal.
