2. What's in the Box

Upon unpacking, please ensure all components are present:

  • 1 x 16.4ft (5 meters) LED Strip Lights
  • 6 x Fixed Clips

Note: A power supply (DC 12V transformer) and an LED controller are not included and must be purchased separately.

3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of your LED strip lights.

3.1 Preparation

  • Ensure the installation surface is clean, dry, and smooth.
  • Unroll the LED strip completely before testing or prolonged use to prevent overheating.
  • Gather necessary tools: scissors, DC 12V power supply, and an optional LED controller for dimming.

3.2 Cutting the LED Strip

The LED strip can be cut to your desired length at designated cutting marks, typically every 6 LEDs. Use sharp scissors for a clean cut.

3.3 Applying the LED Strip

  • Carefully peel off the red protective backing from the 3M adhesive. Ensure the adhesive remains on the strip.
  • Press the LED strip firmly onto the prepared surface.
  • For enhanced stability, use the provided fixed clips at regular intervals, especially on uneven surfaces or for long runs.

3.4 Wiring Connections

Connect the LED strip to a compatible DC 12V power supply. The strip has two wires for connection:

  • Red Wire: Connect to the positive (+) terminal of the 12V DC power supply.
  • Black Wire: Connect to the negative (-) terminal of the 12V DC power supply.

Recommendation: For a more stable and reliable connection, especially in outdoor or high-vibration environments, soldering the wires is recommended over using connectors.

4. Operating Instructions

Once properly installed and connected to a DC 12V power supply, the LED strip lights will illuminate. To control the brightness (dimming function), an external LED controller is required.

  • Power On/Off: Controlled by the power supply switch or an inline switch/controller (if installed).
  • Dimming: If an LED controller is connected between the power supply and the LED strip, use the controller's interface (e.g., remote control) to adjust brightness from 0-100%.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your LED strip lights.

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the silicone surface with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Heat Dissipation: Always ensure the LED strip is unrolled and has adequate airflow, especially during testing or extended operation, to prevent heat buildup.
  • Water Exposure: While IP67 rated for temporary water splashes and dust, these lights are not designed for continuous submersion or underwater use. Avoid direct high-pressure water jets.
  • Connection Integrity: Periodically check all electrical connections for corrosion or looseness, especially in outdoor installations.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your LED strip lights, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Lights do not turn on.No power, incorrect wiring, faulty power supply.Check if the power supply is plugged in and receiving power. Verify wiring connections (Red to +, Black to -). Test the power supply with another device if possible.
Lights are dim or flickering.Insufficient power, loose connection, faulty controller.Ensure the power supply provides adequate wattage for the strip length. Check all connections for tightness. If using a controller, bypass it temporarily to see if the issue persists.
Only a section of the strip is lit.Damage to the strip, incorrect cut, faulty segment.Inspect the unlit section for visible damage. Ensure cuts were made precisely at the designated marks. If a segment is faulty, the strip may need replacement or repair of that section.
Adhesive is not holding.Surface not clean/dry, improper application, unsuitable surface material.Clean and dry the surface thoroughly before application. Apply firm, even pressure. Use the included fixed clips for additional support, especially on textured or outdoor surfaces.
