Setup
1. Assembly
The assembly process for the Sun Joe XTREAM Electric Pressure Washer is straightforward. Ensure all components are present and undamaged before beginning.
2. Water Connection
- Connect your garden hose to the pressure washer's water inlet. Ensure a secure connection to prevent leaks.
- Attach the high-pressure hose to the pressure washer's outlet and to the spray gun.
- Turn on the water supply and allow water to flow through the system until all air is purged from the hoses and spray gun. This prevents air pockets from damaging the pump.
3. Power Connection
- Ensure the pressure washer's power switch is in the "OFF" position.
- Plug the 35-foot GFCI power cord into a suitable electrical outlet. The GFCI light should illuminate.
4. Attaching Accessories

Operating Instructions
- Once all connections are secure and water is flowing, turn the pressure washer's power switch to the "ON" position. The pump will run briefly to build pressure and then shut off.
- Squeeze the trigger on the spray gun to begin spraying. The Total Stop System (TSS) automatically shuts off the pump when the trigger isn't engaged, prolonging pump life and saving energy.
- Adjust the spray pattern by changing the Quick-Connect spray tips as needed for different cleaning tasks.
- For applying detergent, ensure the foam cannon is filled and attached. The detergent will be dispensed when the appropriate setting or nozzle is selected (refer to specific foam cannon instructions if different from standard tips).
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your pressure washer.
- After Each Use: Detach all hoses and the spray gun. Drain all water from the hoses and the unit to prevent mineral buildup and freezing damage.
- Nozzle Cleaning: Use the provided needle clean-out tool to clear any blockages from the spray tips.
- Winterization: If storing in freezing temperatures, ensure the unit is completely drained of water or use a pump protector/antifreeze solution as per manufacturer guidelines to prevent internal damage.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Low pressure or pump "racing" | Insufficient water supply or restricted water flow. | Check the garden hose for kinks or blockages. Ensure the water faucet is fully open and providing adequate pressure. Avoid using multiple hoses or restrictive valves that can reduce water flow. |
| Unit does not start | Power cord not properly plugged in, GFCI tripped, or power switch off. | Ensure the GFCI plug is reset and properly connected. Check the power switch is in the "ON" position. Verify the electrical outlet is functional. |
| Water leaking from connections | Loose connections or damaged O-rings. | Tighten all hose and gun connections. Inspect O-rings for wear or damage and replace if necessary. |
