1.1 Safety Information

4. Setup

4.1 Initial Inspection

Upon receiving your battery, inspect it for any signs of damage. If damage is found, contact your supplier immediately.

4.2 Charging Before First Use

It is recommended to fully charge the battery before its first use to ensure optimal performance and calibration of the BMS.

4.3 Battery Connections

Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated. Use appropriate gauge cables for your application to prevent overheating and voltage drop.

• Single Battery Connection: Connect the positive terminal to the positive load/charger and the negative terminal to the negative load/charger.
• Parallel Connection (Increased Capacity): To connect batteries in parallel, connect all positive terminals together and all negative terminals together. Ensure all batteries are of the same model and state of charge (voltage) before connecting. Use identical CHINS batteries purchased within 6 months.
• Series Connection (Increased Voltage): To connect batteries in series, connect the positive terminal of one battery to the negative terminal of the next. Ensure all batteries are of the same model and state of charge (voltage) before connecting. This battery supports up to 4 batteries in series for a 48V system.

4.4 Bluetooth App Installation

To monitor your battery's performance, download the "BAT-BMS" app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Follow these steps:

1. Download and install the "BAT-BMS" app on your smartphone.
2. Locate the battery code on the upper part of your CHINS battery.
3. Open the app and find the corresponding battery code to establish a successful Bluetooth connection.

5. Operating

5.1 General Usage

The CHINS LiFePO4 battery is designed for deep cycle applications. It can be used as a power source for various devices within its voltage and current limits. The integrated BMS will manage charging and discharging parameters to protect the battery.

5.2 Charging

Use a LiFePO4 compatible charger. The battery can be charged using solar panels, generators, or AC chargers. Ensure the charging voltage and current are within the battery's specifications. The BMS will prevent overcharging.

5.3 Discharging

The battery can power devices up to 2560W continuously due to its 200A BMS. The BMS will automatically disconnect the battery if the discharge current exceeds its limit or if the battery voltage drops too low, protecting the cells from damage.

5.4 Bluetooth Monitoring

Use the "BAT-BMS" app to monitor the battery's real-time status. This includes voltage, current, state of charge (SOC), temperature, and individual cell voltages. This feature helps in understanding battery health and optimizing usage.

6. Maintenance

The CHINS LiFePO4 battery is largely maintenance-free due to its advanced BMS. However, following these guidelines can help ensure its longevity:

• Regular Inspection: Periodically check battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections. Clean terminals with a wire brush if necessary and ensure they are tightened.
• Cleaning: Keep the battery surface clean and dry. Use a damp cloth to wipe off dust or dirt. Do not use harsh chemicals.
• Storage: If storing the battery for an extended period, ensure it is charged to approximately 50-70% of its capacity. Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Disconnect all loads and chargers.
• Temperature: While the battery has low-temperature protection, operating or charging in extreme cold (below 0°C/32°F) or heat (above 50°C/122°F) can affect performance and lifespan.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your CHINS battery, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

• Battery Not Charging:
  • Check all cable connections for tightness and proper polarity.
  • Ensure the charger is compatible with LiFePO4 batteries and is functioning correctly.
  • Verify that the charging voltage and current are within the battery's specifications.
  • The BMS may have activated a protection mode (e.g., low temperature, over-voltage). Allow the battery to warm up if it's too cold, or disconnect and reconnect the charger.
• Battery Not Discharging/No Power Output:
  • Check load connections and ensure they are secure.
  • Verify that the load's power consumption does not exceed the battery's continuous discharge current (200A) or peak current limits.
  • The BMS may have activated a protection mode (e.g., over-discharge, over-current, high temperature). Disconnect the load, allow the battery to rest, or charge it if the voltage is too low.
• Bluetooth App Connection Issues:
  • Ensure your smartphone's Bluetooth is enabled and you are within 5-10 meters of the battery.
  • Close and restart the "BAT-BMS" app.
  • Verify that the battery code entered in the app matches the one on the battery.
  • Restart your smartphone.
• Unusual Odor or Swelling:
  • Immediately disconnect the battery from all loads and chargers.
  • Move the battery to a safe, well-ventilated area.
  • Contact CHINS customer support immediately. Do not attempt to use or repair the battery.
