5.1. General Wiring Steps (Hardwired 120V)

  1. Turn off power: Locate the circuit breaker controlling the outdoor lighting circuit and switch it to the OFF position. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
  2. Prepare wires: Strip approximately 3/4 inch of insulation from the ends of the house supply wires and the fixture wires.
  3. Connect wires: Use the provided wire nuts to connect the wires as follows:
    • Connect the black fixture wire to the black (hot) supply wire.
    • Connect the white fixture wire to the white (neutral) supply wire.
    • Connect the green or bare copper fixture wire to the green or bare copper (ground) supply wire.
  4. Secure connections: Ensure all wire nuts are tightly secured and no bare wire is exposed.

5.2. Pier Mount Installation

  1. Prepare mounting surface: Ensure the pier or column surface is flat, stable, and has an opening for electrical wiring.
  2. Attach pier mount base: Position the pier mount base over the wiring opening. Mark the locations for drilling mounting holes. Drill pilot holes if necessary.
  3. Secure base: Feed the supply wires through the center hole of the pier mount base. Secure the base to the surface using appropriate screws (not always included, may require specific hardware for your surface type).
  4. Mount fixture: Place the post light fixture onto the pier mount base, aligning the mounting holes.
  5. Complete wiring: Follow the general wiring steps (Section 5.1).
  6. Secure fixture: Fasten the fixture to the pier mount base using the provided screws.
  7. Install bulb: Screw an E26 base bulb (max 100W) into the socket.

6. Operating Instructions

This outdoor post light is equipped with a built-in photocell sensor, enabling automatic dusk-to-dawn operation.

  1. Power On: After installation, restore power to the circuit at the breaker.
  2. Automatic Operation: The integrated photocell sensor detects ambient light levels. The light fixture will automatically turn on when it detects low light conditions (dusk) and turn off when it detects sufficient light (dawn).
  3. Sensor Placement: Ensure the photocell sensor (small circular component on the fixture base) is not obstructed by objects, shadows, or other light sources, as this may interfere with its proper function.
