1. Important Safety Instructions

Always read and understand all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

General Power Tool Safety Warnings

• Work Area Safety: Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
• Electrical Safety: Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
• Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection when conditions require.
• Chainsaw Specific Safety: Always hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands when the engine is running. Use a firm grip with thumbs and fingers encircling the chainsaw handles.

Kickback Safety

Kickback may occur when the nose or tip of the guide bar touches an object, or when the wood closes in and pinches the saw chain in the cut. Tip contact in some cases may cause a lightning fast reverse reaction, kicking the guide bar up and back towards the operator. Pinching the saw chain along the top of the guide bar may push the guide bar rapidly back towards the operator. Either of these reactions may cause you to lose control of the saw which could result in serious personal injury.

Key Components:

• Guide Bar: The elongated part of the chainsaw that supports and guides the saw chain.
• Saw Chain: A loop of chain with cutting teeth that rotates around the guide bar.
• Front Handle: The handle located at the front of the chainsaw, designed for the non-dominant hand.
• Rear Handle: The handle located at the rear of the chainsaw, containing the trigger switch.

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Charging and Installation

1. Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use. Connect the charger to a standard power outlet and insert the battery pack. Refer to the charger's instructions for charging indicators.
2. To install the battery, align the battery pack with the battery compartment on the chainsaw and slide it in until it clicks securely into place.
3. To remove the battery, press the battery release button (if present) and slide the battery pack out.

3.2 Chain and Bar Installation (if applicable)

If the chain and bar are not pre-installed, follow these steps:

1. Ensure the battery is removed.
2. Remove the chain cover by loosening the retaining nuts.
3. Place the chain around the sprocket and guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges face the correct direction (refer to markings on the chain or bar).
4. Reinstall the chain cover and hand-tighten the nuts.

3.3 Chain Tension Adjustment

Proper chain tension is crucial for safe and efficient operation. The chain should be snug against the guide bar but still able to be pulled freely by hand.

1. With the chain cover nuts slightly loose, use the tensioning screw (usually located on the side of the chainsaw) to adjust the chain tension.
2. Once tension is correct, fully tighten the chain cover nuts.

3.4 Adding Chain Lubrication Oil

This chainsaw features an automatic oiling system. It is essential to keep the oil reservoir filled with appropriate bar and chain oil.

1. Ensure the chainsaw is off and the battery is removed.
2. Locate and open the oil tank cap.
3. Fill the reservoir with high-quality bar and chain oil. Do not use waste oil or motor oil.
4. Securely replace the oil tank cap.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Pre-Operation Checks

• Verify chain tension is correct.
• Check oil level in the chain oil reservoir.
• Ensure all nuts, bolts, and screws are tight.
• Confirm the chain brake is functioning correctly.
• Wear appropriate PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and sturdy footwear.

4.2 Starting the Chainsaw

1. Ensure the chain brake is disengaged (pushed back towards the front handle).
2. Grip the rear handle firmly with one hand and the front handle with the other.
3. Press the safety lock-out button (if present) and then squeeze the trigger switch to start the chain.

4.3 Cutting Techniques

Always maintain a balanced stance and firm grip with both hands. Plan your cut before starting. Be aware of potential kickback zones.

• Limbing: Remove branches from a fallen tree. Work from the bottom up, cutting smaller branches first.
• Bucking: Cutting a fallen tree into sections. Be aware of tension and compression in the wood to avoid pinching the bar.
• Avoid Kickback: Never cut with the tip of the guide bar. Always use the bottom or top of the bar, keeping the chainsaw firmly against the wood.

4.4 Stopping the Chainsaw

Release the trigger switch. The chain will stop rotating. Engage the chain brake for added safety when moving between cuts or when not actively cutting.

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your chainsaw.

5.1 Chain Sharpening

A sharp chain is essential for efficient and safe cutting. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when dull. Refer to the chain manufacturer's specifications for the correct file size and sharpening angles.

5.2 Guide Bar Maintenance

• Clean the guide bar groove regularly to remove sawdust and debris.
• Flip the guide bar periodically to ensure even wear.
• Check the guide bar for burrs or damage and file them smooth if necessary.

5.3 Cleaning and Storage

• After each use, clean the chainsaw thoroughly, removing sawdust, oil, and debris from the motor housing, chain, and bar.
• Store the chainsaw in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children and away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
• Remove the battery pack before storing for extended periods.
