Setup

1. Battery Charging and Installation

Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use. Connect the charger to a power outlet and insert the battery pack. The indicator light on the charger will show the charging status. Once fully charged, disconnect the battery from the charger.

• To install the battery: Align the battery pack with the base of the drill handle and slide it in until it clicks securely into place.
• To remove the battery: Press the battery release button (usually located on the side of the battery pack) and slide the battery out.

2. Installing Drill Bits or Driver Bits

The BCDK-29 features a 3/8 inch keyless chuck for quick and easy bit changes.

1. Rotate the chuck counter-clockwise until the jaws are open wide enough to insert the desired drill bit or driver bit.
2. Insert the bit fully into the chuck.
3. Rotate the chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws firmly around the bit. Ensure the bit is centered and secure to prevent slippage during operation.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off and Variable Speed Control

The drill is activated by the variable speed trigger. The further the trigger is pressed, the faster the drill operates.

• To start the drill: Squeeze the variable speed trigger.
• To stop the drill: Release the variable speed trigger.
• The integrated LED light will illuminate when the trigger is pressed, providing visibility in dimly lit work areas.

2. Forward/Reverse Switch

The forward/reverse switch (also known as the direction selector) is located above the trigger. It controls the rotation direction of the chuck.

• For drilling or driving screws: Push the switch to the left (when viewed from the rear of the drill) for forward rotation.
• For removing screws or backing out drill bits: Push the switch to the right for reverse rotation.
• To lock the trigger (prevent accidental starting): Position the switch in the center.

3. Torque Adjustment (Clutch Settings)

The torque adjustment collar, located behind the chuck, allows you to select the amount of torque applied. This is crucial for driving screws to prevent overtightening or stripping.

• Rotate the collar to align the desired setting with the arrow on the drill body.
• Lower numbers (1-5) are for driving small screws or working with soft materials.
• Higher numbers (6-15) are for driving larger screws or working with harder materials.
• The drill symbol setting is for drilling applications, providing maximum torque without clutch disengagement.

4. Drilling and Driving Techniques

Always hold the drill firmly with both hands, especially when drilling larger holes or driving long screws.

• Drilling: Start with a slow speed to prevent the bit from wandering. Increase speed as the bit engages the material. Apply steady, even pressure.
• Driving: Select an appropriate torque setting. Start with a low speed and increase as the screw engages. Stop when the clutch disengages or the screw is flush.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

Regular cleaning helps maintain the tool's performance and extends its lifespan.

• Always disconnect the battery pack before cleaning.
• Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the exterior of the drill. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Clear any dust or debris from the ventilation openings using compressed air or a soft brush.
• Keep the chuck jaws clean and free of debris for optimal bit gripping.

2. Storage

When not in use, store the drill and its accessories in a clean, dry, and secure location, out of reach of children.

• Store the battery pack partially charged (around 50%) if storing for extended periods to prolong battery life.
• Avoid storing the tool in direct sunlight or in areas with extreme temperatures.
