Setup
1. Adjusting Eyecups
The eyecups can be adjusted to provide comfortable viewing with or without eyeglasses. Twist the eyecups up for use without eyeglasses and twist them down for use with eyeglasses. This ensures proper eye relief and a full field of view.

2. Adjusting Interpupillary Distance (IPD)
The interpupillary distance is the distance between the centers of your pupils. To adjust, hold the binoculars with both hands and bend the body of the binoculars until you see a single, clear circular field of view. This ensures both optical paths are aligned with your eyes.

3. Diopter Adjustment
The diopter adjustment compensates for differences in vision between your left and right eyes. Follow these steps:
- Close your right eye and look through the left barrel of the binoculars. Rotate the center focus wheel until the image is sharp.
- Close your left eye and look through the right barrel. Rotate the diopter adjustment ring (located on the right eyepiece) until the image is sharp.
- Now, with both eyes open, the image should be clear. Use only the center focus wheel for subsequent focusing on different distances.

Operating
Once your binoculars are set up for your eyes, operating them is straightforward. Simply raise the binoculars to your eyes and use the center focus wheel to bring your desired subject into sharp focus. The 10x magnification provides excellent detail for distant objects, while the 42mm objective lens diameter ensures bright images even in lower light conditions.
These binoculars are waterproof, allowing for use in various weather conditions without concern for internal fogging or damage from moisture.
Maintenance
Proper care and maintenance will extend the life and performance of your Alpen Wings binoculars.
Cleaning Lenses
When cleaning the lenses, first use a soft brush or compressed air to remove any dust or debris. Then, use a clean, soft microfiber cloth specifically designed for optics. For stubborn smudges, a small amount of lens cleaning fluid can be applied to the cloth, not directly to the lens.

General Care
- Store your binoculars in a cool, dry place when not in use.
- Always use the provided lens caps and eyepiece covers to protect the optics from dust and scratches.
- Avoid dropping or subjecting the binoculars to severe impacts, as this can misalign the optics.
- Do not attempt to disassemble the binoculars; this will void the warranty and can cause irreparable damage.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Blurred image | Incorrect focus or diopter setting. | Adjust the center focus wheel. Re-perform diopter adjustment if necessary. |
| Double image or eye strain | Incorrect interpupillary distance (IPD). | Adjust the hinge until a single, circular field of view is observed. |
| Dark edges in view (vignetting) | Improper eyecup adjustment. | Adjust eyecups up or down until the full field of view is visible. |
| Fogging on lenses | External condensation due to temperature changes. | Allow binoculars to acclimate to ambient temperature. Wipe external surfaces with a clean, dry cloth. Internal fogging is prevented by the waterproof design. |
