Please read this guide thoroughly before using your equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Setup
1. PreSonus PD-70 Microphone Setup
The PD-70 is a dynamic cardioid microphone designed for broadcast and recording applications. It features an end-address design and requires an XLR cable connection to an audio interface or mixer with a microphone preamp.
- Mounting the Microphone: Secure the PD-70 to a microphone stand using its integrated hard mount. Ensure the microphone is stable and positioned correctly for your recording environment.
- Connecting the Microphone: Connect a standard XLR cable to the 3-pin XLR connector located at the bottom of the PD-70. Connect the other end of the XLR cable to an available microphone input on your audio interface or mixer.
- Powering On: The PD-70 is a passive dynamic microphone and does not require phantom power. Ensure your audio interface or mixer is powered on and configured for the correct input.

2. Rockville PRO-M50 Studio Headphones Setup
The PRO-M50 headphones are designed for studio monitoring, offering accurate sound reproduction and sound isolation.
- Connecting the Cable: Attach the detachable 51-inch coiled cable to the headphone's input jack. Ensure it is securely connected.
- Connecting to Audio Source: Plug the gold-plated 3.5mm connector into your audio device (e.g., audio interface, mixer, computer). If your device requires a 1/4-inch connection, use the included gold-plated adapter.

Operating Instructions
PreSonus PD-70 Microphone Usage
- Positioning: The PD-70 is an end-address microphone. Speak directly into the top of the microphone for optimal sound capture.
- Cardioid Polar Pattern: This microphone features a cardioid polar pattern, meaning it primarily picks up sound from the front and rejects sound from the sides and rear. This helps minimize background noise and room reverberation.
- Proximity Effect: Moving closer to the microphone will increase bass response, known as the proximity effect. Experiment with distance to achieve your desired vocal tone.
- Integrated Windscreen: The built-in windscreen helps reduce plosive sounds (P, B sounds) and breath noise.
Rockville PRO-M50 Studio Headphones Usage
- Comfort and Fit: Adjust the headband for a comfortable and secure fit. The ergonomically designed swivel ear cups allow for single-ear monitoring if needed.
- Sound Isolation: The closed-back, circumaural design provides supreme sound isolation, minimizing sound bleed and external noise interference during monitoring.
- Monitoring: These headphones are designed for accurate sound reproduction with a flat frequency curve, ideal for critical listening and mixing in a studio environment.
Maintenance
General Care
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior surfaces of both the microphone and headphones. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Storage: When not in use, store the equipment in a clean, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and humidity. The PRO-M50 headphones include a hard leather carrying case for protection during storage and transport.
Headphone Specific Maintenance
- Cable Care: Handle the detachable coiled cable carefully. Avoid sharp bends or excessive pulling to prevent damage.
- Ear Cushion Replacement: The ear cushions are interchangeable and can be replaced if they become worn or damaged. Replacement cushions can be obtained from authorized Rockville dealers.
Troubleshooting
Microphone Issues
- No Sound:
- Ensure the XLR cable is securely connected at both the microphone and the audio interface/mixer.
- Verify that the input gain on your audio interface/mixer is turned up.
- Check that the correct input is selected on your audio software or device.
- Distorted Sound:
- Reduce the input gain on your audio interface/mixer to prevent clipping.
- Ensure you are not speaking too close to the microphone, which can cause overload.
Headphone Issues
- No Sound:
- Ensure the headphone cable is fully inserted into both the headphones and the audio source.
- Check the volume level on your audio source.
- If using the 1/4-inch adapter, ensure it is securely attached to the 3.5mm plug.
- Sound from One Side Only:
- Check the cable connections at both ends.
- Test the headphones with another audio source to rule out a device issue.
