4. Maintenance

4.1 Checking Ink Levels

Visually inspect the ink tanks on the front of the printer to monitor ink levels. The printer software on your computer also provides an indication of current ink levels.

4.2 Refilling Ink Tanks

When an ink tank is low, purchase genuine Brother BTD60BK (Black) and BT5000 C, M, Y (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) ink bottles. Follow the ink filling instructions in Section 2.2. Using non-genuine inks may void your warranty and affect print quality.

4.3 Cleaning the Printer

Regularly clean the exterior of the printer with a soft, lint-free cloth. If print quality issues arise, such as streaking or missing colors, perform a print head cleaning or alignment from the printer's maintenance utility in the software.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Printer Not Responding

Ensure the printer is powered on and properly connected to your computer via USB or to your Wi-Fi network. Check for any error messages on the printer's display or in the printer software. Restart both the printer and your computer.

5.2 Print Quality Issues

If prints are faded, streaky, or have incorrect colors, check ink levels and refill if necessary. Perform a print head cleaning and alignment from the printer's maintenance utility. Ensure you are using appropriate paper for your print job.

5.3 Paper Jams

If a paper jam occurs, carefully open the printer covers and remove any jammed paper following the instructions in the printer's on-screen guide or the full user manual. Ensure paper is loaded correctly and not overfilled in the tray.
