This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective installation, operation, and maintenance of your Smartwares Plug & Connect Home Kit.
2. Safety Information
Please read this section carefully before installation or use. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or personal injury.
- Always disconnect the main power supply before attempting any electrical installation or maintenance.
- Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician if you are unsure about electrical wiring procedures.
- Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 1000 watts for the built-in switch.
- Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.
- This product is designed for indoor use only.
- Keep the device away from water, moisture, and extreme temperatures.
3. Package Contents
Verify that all items are present in your package:
- 1 x Built-in Switch (Receiver Module)
- 3 x Wireless Light Switches
- Double-sided adhesive tape (for wireless switches)
- Battery (for wireless switches, may be pre-installed or included separately)
4. Product Overview
The Smartwares Plug & Connect Home Kit consists of two main types of components:
- Built-in Switch (Receiver Module): This compact device is installed behind your existing light switch or within a junction box. It receives signals from the wireless switches and controls the power to your light fixture.
- Wireless Light Switches: These battery-powered switches can be placed anywhere using the provided adhesive tape. They send wireless signals to the built-in switch to turn your lights on or off.

5. Setup and Installation
5.1 Built-in Switch Installation
- Power Disconnection: Before starting, ensure the main power supply to the circuit you will be working on is completely disconnected at the fuse box or circuit breaker.
- Access Wiring: Remove the existing light switch cover and carefully pull out the switch to expose the wiring.
- Connect Built-in Switch: Connect the built-in switch (receiver module) according to the wiring diagram provided with the product. Typically, this involves connecting the Live (Phase) and Neutral wires to the input terminals of the receiver, and the Load wire (to the light fixture) to the output terminal. The operating voltage is 230 Volts.
- Secure Placement: Carefully place the built-in switch and existing wiring back into the wall box, ensuring no wires are pinched. Reattach the light switch cover.
- Restore Power: Restore power to the circuit.
5.2 Wireless Switch Placement
The wireless switches are battery-operated and can be placed in any desired location:
- Clean the surface where you intend to place the wireless switch.
- Remove the protective backing from the double-sided adhesive tape.
- Firmly press the wireless switch onto the desired surface.
5.3 Pairing Wireless Switches with Built-in Switch
To enable communication between the wireless switches and the built-in switch, they must be paired:
- Ensure the built-in switch has power.
- Activate the pairing mode on the built-in switch. This is typically done by pressing and holding a small button on the receiver module for approximately 3 seconds until an indicator LED begins to flash.
- While the receiver's LED is flashing, press the desired button on the wireless switch you wish to pair.
- Release the button on the receiver within 3 seconds, before the LED stops flashing, to complete the pairing process. The LED should stop flashing or change color to indicate successful pairing.
- Repeat this process for each wireless switch you want to pair.
6. Operating Instructions
Once installed and paired, operating your Smartwares Plug & Connect Home Kit is straightforward:
- Wireless Control: Press the button on any paired wireless switch to toggle the connected light fixture on or off.
- Manual Control: If the built-in switch is installed behind an existing wall switch, you can still use the original wall switch to control the light.
- Smart Home Expansion: The Smartwares Plug & Connect system can be expanded with a Smart Switch (sold separately) to enable control via a free mobile application, integrating all Plug & Connect products.
7. Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Smartwares Plug & Connect Home Kit:
- Cleaning: Clean the surfaces of the switches with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: The wireless switches require 2 Lithium Ion batteries. Replace them when the switch's performance degrades or the indicator light (if present) signals low battery. Refer to the specific wireless switch model for battery access and replacement instructions.
- Environmental Conditions: Avoid exposing the devices to direct sunlight, high humidity, or extreme temperatures.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Smartwares Plug & Connect Home Kit, refer to the following common solutions:
- Light not responding to wireless switch:
- Check if the main power supply to the built-in switch is active.
- Verify that the wireless switch is within range of the built-in switch.
- Ensure the wireless switch batteries are not depleted and are correctly installed.
- Attempt to re-pair the wireless switch with the built-in switch (refer to Section 5.3).
- Intermittent operation:
- Check for potential sources of wireless interference (e.g., other wireless devices, large metal objects).
- Ensure the built-in switch is not overloaded (maximum 1000 watts).
- Built-in switch not functioning:
- Confirm proper electrical wiring and connections (refer to Section 5.1).
- Ensure the circuit breaker has not tripped.
