1. Important Safety Instructions

Please read all instructions carefully before using the SALAV Performance Series Upright Garment Steamer. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious personal injury.

2. Product Overview

The SALAV Performance Series Upright Garment Steamer, model GS34-BJ, is designed to efficiently remove wrinkles from various fabrics using continuous steam. It features a powerful 1500-watt heating element and a large water tank for extended steaming sessions.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all items are present in the package:

4. Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your SALAV Garment Steamer:

  1. Insert the adjustable pole into the designated opening on the steamer base until it clicks securely into place.
  2. Attach the 360° swivel multi-hook hanger to the top of the adjustable pole. Ensure it is firmly seated.
  3. Connect the steam hose to the steam outlet on the steamer base. Twist clockwise until tight.
  4. Place the steam nozzle into the hanger's cradle when not in use.

5. Operation

5.1 Filling the Water Tank

  1. Ensure the steamer is unplugged from the power outlet.
  2. Remove the water tank from the base unit.
  3. Unscrew the cap at the bottom of the water tank.
  4. Fill the tank with distilled or de-mineralized water. Do not overfill.
  5. Securely screw the cap back on and place the water tank back into the base unit.

5.2 Powering On and Fabric Settings

  1. Plug the steamer into a standard electrical outlet.
  2. Turn the steam setting dial on the base unit to your desired fabric type (Silk, Wool, Cotton, Linen). The steamer will begin to heat up.
  3. Allow approximately 45 seconds for the steamer to heat up and produce continuous steam.

5.3 Steaming Garments

  1. Hang the garment on the 360° swivel multi-hook hanger.
  2. Hold the steam nozzle a few inches away from the fabric.
  3. Move the nozzle slowly up and down the garment, allowing the steam to penetrate the fibers.
  4. For stubborn wrinkles, attach the fabric brush to the nozzle and gently brush the fabric while steaming.
  5. To create crisp creases on pants, use the pants press attachment. Clamp the pants press onto the desired area and apply steam.
  6. After steaming, allow the garment to cool and dry before wearing or storing.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

6.2 Descaling

Mineral deposits from water can build up inside the steamer over time, affecting performance. Descale your steamer regularly (every 3-6 months, or more often in hard water areas).

  1. Ensure the steamer is unplugged and cool.
  2. Remove the water tank and empty any remaining water.
  3. Mix a solution of 50% white vinegar and 50% water.
  4. Pour the solution into the water tank and reattach it to the base.
  5. Plug in the steamer and turn it on to the 'Cotton' setting. Allow it to steam until half of the solution has been used.
  6. Turn off and unplug the steamer, allowing it to cool for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Empty the remaining solution from the tank and rinse thoroughly with fresh water.
  8. Fill the tank with fresh distilled water and run the steamer for a few minutes to flush out any residual vinegar smell.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your steamer, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
