Initial Setup
Follow these steps to prepare your AUTOOL SDT205S for operation:
- Prepare the Device: Place the smoke leak detector on a stable, flat surface in a well-ventilated area.
- Fill Test Oil: Carefully add 10-20ml of test oil (e.g., baby oil or mineral oil) into the oil filler port located on the top of the device. Do not exceed the recommended range to prevent overfilling. For first-time use, ensure the oil level is within this range.
- Connect Power: Connect the device to a DC12V vehicle battery using the provided power clamps. Ensure correct polarity: connect the red clamp to the positive (+) terminal and the black clamp to the negative (-) terminal of the battery.

Operating Instructions
Once the device is set up, proceed with the leak detection process:
- Vehicle Preparation: Disconnect the pipe or system component that needs to be tested for leaks. Ensure the area is well-ventilated and away from smoke-sensitive parts like headlights.
- Select Mode:
- Air Mode: Press the green button labeled "AIR MODE" to activate the built-in air pump. This mode can be used for initial pressure testing or to clear residual smoke from the system.
- Smoke Mode: Press the red button labeled "SMOKE MODE" to activate the smoke generator. The device will begin producing smoke within approximately 30 seconds.
- Introduce Smoke: Insert the smoke output hose into the disconnected pipe or system using an appropriate adapter. The system will gradually fill with smoke.
- Identify Leaks: Visually inspect the system for smoke escaping from any cracks, loose connections, damaged seals, or other compromised areas. The escaping smoke indicates the precise location of the leak.
- Complete Test: Once all leaks are identified and repaired, turn off the device by pressing the power button. Disconnect the power clamps from the battery and remove the smoke hose from the vehicle system.

Maintenance Guidelines
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your AUTOOL SDT205S:
- Oil Replacement: Regularly change the test oil. Before refilling with new oil, always pour out any remaining old oil from the detector's reservoir.
- Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the device clean and free from dust, oil, and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Storage: When not in use, store the device in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Safety Precautions: To prevent short circuits and damage, never immerse the product in water or any other liquids.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
- No Smoke Output:
- Check if the device is properly connected to a DC12V power source. Ensure sufficient test oil is in the reservoir (10-20ml). Verify that the "SMOKE MODE" button (red) is activated.
- Insufficient Smoke:
- Ensure the oil level is adequate and within the recommended range. Check for any blockages in the smoke output hose or adapters.
- Device Overheating:
- The device has built-in overheat protection and will automatically shut down if the internal temperature exceeds 75°C. This is a safety feature. Allow the device to cool down completely before attempting to resume operation.
- General Safety Reminders:
- Always perform leak detection in a well-ventilated area to disperse smoke. Keep the smoke output away from smoke-sensitive components like headlights during operation to prevent damage or residue.
