5. Operating Features
The Smoby BE Move Tricycle is designed with several adjustable features to adapt to your child's growth and provide safety.

Figure 5.1: Overview of Tricycle Features
This diagram highlights key adjustable features: 1. Parental Handle Adjustment, 2. Seat Adjustment, 3. Rear Tipper Skip, 4. Handlebar Lock, 5. Free Wheel System.
5.1 Parental Steering Handle Adjustment
The parental handle allows an adult to push and steer the tricycle. Its height can be adjusted to suit the user.

Figure 5.2: Parental Handle Adjustment Mechanism
To adjust the height, locate the adjustment pins (numbered 1, 2, 3 in the diagram) on the handle shaft. Press the pin and slide the handle to the desired height, ensuring the pin locks into place.
5.2 Seat Adjustment
The ergonomic seat can be adjusted to two positions to accommodate your child's growth and comfort.

Figure 5.3: Seat Position Adjustment
To adjust the seat, locate the adjustment mechanism underneath the seat. Slide the seat forward or backward between positions 1 and 2, ensuring it clicks securely into the chosen position.
5.3 Handlebar Locking System
The handlebar locking system allows the parent to control the steering when pushing the tricycle, preventing the child from interfering with direction.

Figure 5.4: Handlebar Lock Engagement
To engage the lock, push the mechanism down (indicated by the lock icon). To disengage, pull it up (indicated by the unlock icon). When locked, the child's handlebars will not turn the front wheel.
5.4 Free Wheel Configuration
The free wheel system allows the pedals to rotate independently of the front wheel, preventing the child's feet from being caught when the tricycle is being pushed by an adult. When the child is ready to pedal independently, the free wheel can be disengaged.

Figure 5.5: Free Wheel Engagement/Disengagement
To engage or disengage the free wheel, locate the red button or lever on the front wheel hub. Push it in or pull it out as indicated by the arrows to switch between free wheel and direct drive modes.
5.5 Rear Tipper Skip
The tricycle includes a rear tipper skip for carrying small items. Ensure items placed in the skip do not exceed the weight limit or interfere with the tricycle's balance.
5.6 Evolutionary Use (15M+ to 30M+)
The Smoby BE Move Tricycle is designed to evolve with your child. Initially, for younger children (15 months and up), it can be used with the parental handle, handlebar lock engaged, and free wheel activated, allowing the adult to control movement.

Figure 5.6: Tricycle in Parental Push Mode (15M+)
An adult pushes the tricycle using the parental handle, with the child secured in the seat.
As the child grows (around 30 months and up) and develops pedaling and steering skills, the parental handle can be removed, the handlebar lock disengaged, and the free wheel deactivated, allowing the child to ride independently.

Figure 5.7: Tricycle in Independent Riding Mode (30M+)
A child rides the tricycle independently, demonstrating developed motor skills.
6. Care and Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe down the tricycle with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the tricycle in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, to prevent material degradation.
- Regular Checks: Periodically inspect all screws, nuts, and bolts to ensure they are tight. Check wheels and pedals for any signs of wear or damage.
- Lubrication: Moving parts may benefit from occasional lubrication with a child-safe lubricant.
7. Troubleshooting
- Pedals not turning the wheel: Check if the free wheel system is engaged. Disengage it if the child is intended to pedal.
- Tricycle difficult to steer: Ensure the handlebar locking system is disengaged if the child is steering. If an adult is steering, ensure the parental handle is securely attached and the handlebar lock is engaged.
- Loose parts: Regularly check and tighten all screws and fasteners. Do not use the tricycle if any parts are loose or damaged.
- Unstable ride: Ensure all wheels are properly attached and the tricycle is used on a flat, even surface.
