1. Introduction

The LoraTap Wireless Light Switch and Receiver system provides a convenient solution for controlling lights and electrical appliances remotely. This system operates using RF (Radio Frequency) technology, eliminating the need for WiFi or mobile applications. It offers long-distance control, easy installation, and broad compatibility with various lighting types.

Each LoraTap product features a unique ID, ensuring no signal interference when multiple units are used in the same area. The system is designed for energy efficiency and environmental consideration.

2. Safety Information and Precautions

Please read all safety instructions before installation and use. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or other hazards.

  • Electrical Safety: Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician or in accordance with local electrical codes. Ensure power is disconnected at the circuit breaker before installation.
  • Compatibility: The relay receiver is not compatible with dimmer switches from other brands.
  • Device Limitations: This device does not support connection to traditional wall switches, nor does it support dimmer switches or dimmable lights.
  • Load Capacity: Ensure the connected load does not exceed the receiver's maximum capacity (300W for CFL fluorescent lamps, 2500W for other lamp types).

4. Setup and Installation

4.1. Receiver Wiring

The receiver must be wired between the power source and the lamp. Ensure the power is OFF before proceeding.

  1. Identify the live (L) and neutral (N) wires from your power source.
  2. Connect the live wire from the power source to the 'L In' terminal on the receiver.
  3. Connect the neutral wire from the power source to the 'N In' terminal on the receiver.
  4. Connect the live wire leading to the lamp to the 'L Out' terminal on the receiver.
  5. Connect the neutral wire leading to the lamp to the 'N Out' terminal on the receiver.
  6. Secure all connections using the provided terminals and screwdriver.

The mini-sized receiver can be easily concealed within an electrical box or cable box. It is compatible with various light types, supporting up to 300W for CFL fluorescent lamps and up to 2500W for other lamp types.

4.2. Remote Control Base Installation

The remote control features a magnetic base for flexible placement. Follow these steps for wall mounting:

  1. Prepare the base: Peel off the protective film from the adhesive on the back of the remote control base.
  2. Fix the base: Hold the base with the "LoraTap" text horizontally and firmly press it onto the desired wall surface.
  3. Attach the remote control: Align the remote control with the fixed base and magnetically attach it. The remote can be easily detached for portable use without damaging the wall.

4.3. Pairing (if necessary)

The remote control and receiver are typically pre-paired. If re-pairing is needed or if you are adding additional remotes/receivers, refer to the specific pairing instructions in the included User Guide. Each product has a unique ID, allowing multiple kits to be used in the same room without signal interference.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed and powered, the LoraTap Wireless Light Switch system is ready for use.

  • Turning On/Off: Press the 'ON' button on the remote control to turn the connected light or appliance on. Press the 'OFF' button to turn it off.
  • Remote Control Range: The remote control offers a range of up to 30 meters indoors and up to 100 meters outdoors. The signal can penetrate walls, windows, and ceilings.
  • Memory Function: The relay receiver includes a memory function. It will remember the previous ON/OFF state when the power is cycled (e.g., after a power outage).

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

To clean the remote control and receiver, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the product's finish or internal components.

6.2. Battery Replacement (Remote Control)

The wireless transmitter (remote control) is powered by a lithium metal button cell battery (included). Batteries typically last at least one year. If the remote control's range decreases or it becomes unresponsive, replace the battery.

  1. Carefully open the remote control casing.
  2. Remove the old battery.
  3. Insert a new lithium metal button cell battery, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Close the remote control casing securely.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your LoraTap Wireless Light Switch system, refer to the following troubleshooting tips:

  • Light does not turn ON/OFF:
    • Check if the receiver is correctly wired and receiving power.
    • Ensure the light bulb is functional and correctly installed.
    • Verify the remote control battery is not depleted.
    • Confirm the remote control and receiver are properly paired. Refer to the User Guide for pairing instructions.
  • Reduced remote control range:
    • Replace the remote control battery.
    • Ensure there are no new significant obstructions between the remote and the receiver.
  • Interference with other devices:
    • The LoraTap system is designed with unique IDs to prevent interference. If you suspect interference, ensure all devices are LoraTap brand and correctly paired.
  • Incompatibility with dimmer switches:
    • This product is not designed to work with dimmer switches or dimmable lights. Attempting to use it with such devices may cause malfunction or damage.
